Three??
Three Hu Tus?
Shen Yue and Huang Ziyue exchanged a look upon hearing the attendant’s report.
This information was incredibly important to them.
It confirmed Shen Yue’s suspicions.
’So I underestimated,’ Shen Yue thought. ’I thought there were two Hu Tus, but it turns out there are three?’
’But how could there be three of them?’
’Did Hu Tu’s female mother give birth to identical triplets?’
’But the females of the Beast World generally have fraternal births. A situation like this should be impossible.’
’And even if they were identical triplets, they wouldn’t be completely the same. There would be at least some minor differences after they grew up.’
After the attendant finished speaking, Shen Yue dismissed him.
The pair hurried toward the West City Forest.
After a slight delay, it was now late morning.
Though it was a bright, sunny day, a gray, misty barrier shrouded the forest before them, making it look as if it had just rained.
Before they even stepped inside, they could feel a chill wafting out from the woods.
The forest stretched out as far as the eye could see, filled with miasma, cold, and damp.
’It seems there’s a lot of wildlife in there, and plenty of poisonous creatures too.’
’Why else would the miasma be so thick?’
Huang Ziyue wrapped his arm around Shen Yue.
"Don’t be afraid. I’m here."
It seemed that in his heart, no matter how capable or powerful Shen Yue became, he still felt she needed protection.
He was always mindful of her feelings and safety, worried that she would be scared or endangered by entering this forest.
But Shen Yue wasn’t afraid at all.
’Who could possibly hurt me now?’
’If I really run into danger, it’ll be a good chance to test out my Vitality Power and see just how formidable and terrifying it can be.’
’Powerful enough for the Golden Cicada Clan to chase me all the way here from the Spirit Realm?’
After speaking, Huang Ziyue flickered out of sight with her, and in the next instant, they were standing inside the forest.
The visibility and temperature inside were, to Shen Yue’s lack of surprise, several times colder than outside.
They couldn’t see more than ten meters ahead.
The moment they landed, a foul stench of decay filled the air.
Shen Yue narrowed her eyes and used her Space Power to pull out a high-powered flashlight.
The beam of light allowed them to see a bit farther and more clearly.
But it also revealed a shocking scene.
They found themselves standing not far from a dead, two-horned rhinoceros.
The rhino’s truck-sized body was decomposing.
The pungent, foul odor was clearly coming from this massive carcass.
But how could such a gigantic beast—so volatile, with such a thick hide and high defenses—have died so easily?
Logically, a beast of this size should have very few natural predators in these mountains.
Even a member of the Beast Clan with High-level Spiritual Power wouldn’t choose to hunt such a troublesome behemoth.
’Could there be a species in these mountains even more powerful than this two-horned rhino?’
"Let’s go take a look," Shen Yue said.
Flashlight in hand, she approached the rhinoceros with Huang Ziyue close by her side.
They both froze in shock.
The rhino’s thick, armor-like hide was covered in scratches.
The marks crisscrossed its entire body, looking like gashes from sharp blades.
But they were clearly claw marks.
’What kind of animal has claws as sharp as knives?’
’Sharp enough to tear through this rhino’s armored back with ease.’
Shen Yue circled around to the front of the rhino with her flashlight, examining the wounds on the massive beast.
She observed the vicious claw marks, which had nearly torn the rhino’s internal organs open.
Suddenly, she swept the flashlight beam across its thick neck and saw a bloody hole.
The bloody cavity was as large as a child’s fist.
She was stunned.
"What could have bitten it?"
Huang Ziyue saw it too and shook his head.
"It’s hard to say."
