After Calvin left, Sadie couldn’t resist gossiping with Eliza, “It’s the first time I’ve seen Mr. Young get the short end of the stick. What a satisfying sight!”
Sadie had been tortured by Calvin in the past, so seeing Eliza put him in his place made her feel elated!
After the satisfaction wore off, she asked curiously, “Do you really think Mr. Young will be so obedient and come back in a week?”
“No,” Eliza replied, focused on flipping through the files in her hands.
“How do you know?”
“I’ve known him for seven years. I know exactly what kind of person he is,” Eliza replied casually.
Sadie nodded, “True.”
Just as Eliza predicted, that afternoon, Calvin showed up.
After meeting with Sutton from LeadTech for their afternoon discussion, Sutton had changed the meeting location last minute, which made Eliza suspicious.
When she arrived at the venue that Sutton had designated, it wasn’t surprising to find Calvin there as well.
Sutton, smiling, said, “Mr. Young and I have some matters to discuss as well. Since you two already know each other, I thought it’d be convenient for you to join 1s. Is that alright, Ms. Eliza?”
At times like this, even if Eliza had objections, she would only say “no problem.”
Calvin had chosen Sutton to be the mediator because he was an eloquent speaker who could easily explain the pros and cons to Eliza.
n reality, Eliza never intended to have a full–on falling out with Everest.
After all, Everup’s strength was undeniable.
f she couldn’t collaborate with Everup, she would need to find another chip company for technical support.
The back–and–forth would only waste time.
n business, you also have to learn how to grow slowly, something Calvin once taught her. Eliza always kept that in mind.
o she agreed to Sutton’s persuasion, but also made some demands,
lying’s responsible parties must publicly apologize.
They had to compensate ASKHEART for R&D losses.
Tying had to delist.
Every time she made a demand, Sutton sucked in a breath.
Calvin, however, was quite calm
le patiently waited for Eliza to finish listing her demands, then asked, “Anything else?”
Eliza replied, “That’s all for now. I reserve the right to add more later.”
Hearing this. Calvin chuckled.
It was hard to say whether it was from amusement or something else.
In the end, he simply said that they would discuss it further and get back to her later.

jefore the meal had finished. Calvin’s phone rang.
I was placed on the table in front of him, and both Eliza and Sutton instinctively looked toward it.
t was a call from Medea.
utton, seeing it, teased, “You two must be in the honeymoon phase, huh? When I was in the honeymoon phase with my wife, I’d always get calls like that when was out for work. Now, though, if I’m out drinking until dawn, she wouldn’t even call me.”
s he spoke, Sutton’s tone was filled with envy, “Honeymoon phase is really something, so full of passion and romance.”
alvin merely smiled in response, not taking it to heart.
When he finally picked up the phone, he covered the mic with his hand and his voice was much softer than before.
I’m almost done here.”
is it raining? It’s fine, Brace will come pick me up.”
Really? I’ll be quick then.”
fter hanging up, Calvin turned to Sutton, “She’s waiting outside for me. Since we’re almost done here, should we call it a day?”
itton, being the gentleman he was, agreed, “It’s not good to keep a girl waiting too long. What do you think, Ms. Eliza?”
liza smiled lightly, “If Mr. Young thinks so, then it’s fine.”
alvin smiled, but there was a deep, unreadable meaning in his eyes.
itton, oblivious to the undercurrents, continued to joke, “Mr. Young surely doesn’t want to keep his girlfriend waiting. That’s so sweet, huh?”
alvin chuckled, “Yes, I don’t want to keep her waiting too long.”
that moment, Eliza’s thoughts blanked out for a few seconds.
Then the meal ended, the three of them walked out together to say their goodbyes.
iza didn’t say much, lowering her head to message Sadie, asking her to bring the car over since the dinner was over.
atside, the cold wind howled.
ue to the late spring chill, the rain felt even colder than winter.
edea was standing outside, waiting for Calvin..
Le could have waited in the car, but instead, she stood in the most conspicuous spot, obviously showing off to Eliza
rhaps it was a declaration of ownership, a way to show Eliza that no matter what happened, Calvin still stood firmly by her side, supporting her nconditionally!
edea arrogantly shot a glance at Eliza before looking at Calvin, calling out to him with a smile. “Caly.”
alvin asked, “Why aren’t you in the car waiting?”
wanted to see you earlier,” Medea pouted playfully
ot shy about publicly flirting.
Alright, alright, I won’t disturb your romantic time. My car’s here. Mr. Young, Ms. Eliza, Ms. Wynn, goodbye,” Sutton said, getting in his car with a playful tone.
s soon as Sutton left, Calvin got into Medea’s car, “Goodbye, Ms. Eliza.”

Eliza gave a barely noticeable nod, as if to acknowledge him.
If she could, she wouldn’t have even given him the most basic response.
The two cars left one after the other, and the area around the door became quiet.
Only Eliza remained standing there, the night wind biting, the cold cutting through her like a blade.
She tightened her cashmere coat, but still felt the chill seeping into her bones.
‘Don’t want to make her wait too long.”
If she hadn’t heard those words with her own ears, she wouldn’t have believed it.
In the years when she worked as his secretary, waiting was what she did most.
When he attended roundtable discussions, she had to wait outside.
When he had business dinners, she had to wait outside the door.
There were countless such occasions.
She had no idea how many times, how long she had waited for him…
The most memorable was when she first learned to wear high heels. She used to stand in them for hours, her legs aching when she returned home.
But she never once complained in front of Calvin.
Maybe only the crying child gets the candy.
At least now, she wouldn’t have to wait for anyone anymore.
Jiza didn’t know how Calvin had appeased Medea.
The next morning, he gave her his response; he agreed to the three conditions she had proposed.
t seemed like last night, he had put in quite a bit of “effort.”
to matter how you look at it, things had been resolved smoothly, which was definitely a good outcome.
Spex had maximized its interests in this whole affair.
Diza was satisfied.
News of Flying delisting quickly spread throughout the Al circle, and people were talking about it non stop
Once a rising star, Flying now faced a sad, swift end.
It was quite similar to the grand celebration Medea threw for Hying, only for everything to end in such a shabby way
Even Sadie couldn’t help but sigh, “Medea’s first big project ended like this, how will she ever if her head in the business world again? Eliza, do you think she’ll exit the industry?”
Eliza didn’t think so, “With Calvin by her side, she won’t leave. He’ll protect her.”
“How will he protect her?”
Sadie was curious.
