Chapter 122
Eliza never expected that Calvin would be so boring!
He had made an appointment a week ago, but later, he had already solved the issue through Sutton. So she really couldn’t figure out his purpose in coming to
ee her now!
And yet, she had set the rule herself: if she refused to see him, it would be a slap in the face.
Let him in.” Eliza reluctantly relented.
When Calvin knocked and entered, Eliza was still busy, not looking at him even once.
Her eyes were glued to the computer screen as she casually asked, “Mr. Young, is there something I can do for you?”
Not finished yet?” Calvin answered her question with a question.
If there’s nothing else, please leave. I’m quite busy,” she dismissed him.
Even if you’re busy, you still need to eat properly.”
hey both kept talking in circles.
Lis words sounded like concern, the kind she had always longed for.
ut now, she didn’t need it.
ate concern and love were as cheap as grass.
ince she couldn’t figure out this man’s intentions, Eliza decided not to guess or respond. She focused solely on her work, confident that Calvin would lose atience soon and leave on his own.
in hour passed in a busy silence.
liza felt a stiffness in her neck and, as she looked up to stretch, she was startled to find Calvin sitting on the sofa.
rowning, she asked, “Why are you still here?”
alvin leaned back, his face half hidden in the dim light, “Waiting for you.”
Waiting for me for what?” Eliza couldn’t understand
To eat.”
Did I say I was going to eat with your
Nancy asked me to come get you and bring you home for dinner Calvin explained. “She’s been busy all day, making the king crabs again, and told ave I must ring you over.”
fe added, “You know, I always listen to Nancy
He sounded like he was forced into it.
Eliza could refuse Calvin, but she couldn’t refuse Nancy’s kind gesture.
Didn’t Calvin say so?
Nancy had worked hard all day to prepare the crabs Iliza loved
However, Eliza would tell Nancy next time to just call her directly and not involve Calvin. It really soured her mood.

Chapter 122
Eliza didn’t take Calvin’s car but drove to hfs place herself. He didn’t insist.
They didn’t even arrive at the same time.
Calvin was half an hour late, and when Nancy asked where he had been, he said he was on a phone call outside, which delayed him.
Nancy nagged, “What phone call was so important that you had to take it outside in the cold?”
Eliza sat drinking tea, pretending not to hear their conversation, showing no reaction.
Calvin came over and sat down across from her, joining Grayson in drinking tea.
Eliza stood up to help in the kitchen.
she wasn’t really helping, she just didn’t want to be around Calvin.
Before long, Calvin came to the kitchen too, and Eliza seized the opportunity to go back to the living room.
she avoided him whenever she could.
The father and son were likely discussing work. There was a plan for the port reconstruction project on the coffee table.
When Grayson went to the bathroom, Eliza was left alone in the living room.
f she had no professional ethics, she could have peeked at the documents and learned plenty of commercial secrets.
But unfortunately, Eliza had too strong a sense of professional ethics.
Jancy really prepared a lot of dishes, and Calvin wasn’t lying about that.
he even opened a bottle of good wine and asked Eliza to drink with Grayson.
liza politely declined, saying she had driven herself and couldn’t drink.
Then let Calv take you home later. He doesn’t drink anyway.” Nancy winked at Eliza.
liza suddenly remembered that this was around the anniversary of Grayson’s late wife’s death.
hat explained why Nancy wanted her to drink with Grayson.
his time, Eliza didn’t refuse and drank with Grayson.
is usual, Calvin abstained from alcohol.
fancy teased him, “Since you’re doing nothing, why not help Eliza with the crabs? The shells are too hard, and they might hurt a girl’s hands
diza didn’t even get a chance to refuse before Calvin was already putting on gloves and starting to peel the crabs.
He really did listen to Nancy.
Grayson asked about Eliza’s work, and she focused on answering his questions
Grayson was always interested in Eliza’s career and knew a lot about the situations at Apex and ASKILARI
Suddenly, the man who had been focused on peeling the crabs spoke up with a sour tone. How come you’re not interested in my career? You’d think I’m your biological father.”
Grayson shot him a cold look, “Didn’t your investment in Flying just lose ten billion?”
Calvin, “…”
Grayson was truly a father who knew exactly how to hit where it hurt.

“Business has its ups and downs. Losing teh billion isn’t that big of a deal. Once we secure the port reconstruction project, what’s ten billion?” Calvin countered confidently.
“But you still need to secure it first!” Grayson retorted.
“Don’t worry. I’ll say this, in Washington, no one can compete with Everest. It’s a done deal.” Calvin said arrogantly.
But he did have the confidence to back it up.
“Don’t count your chickens before they hatch,” Grayson warned.
Eliza could tell that Grayson’s way of educating Calvin was through criticism.
Calvin seemed unhappy and continued to argue with his father, even bringing up the bidding amount.
The two of them had never treated her as an outsider, freely discussing business matters as they always did.
If this had been before, Eliza would have tried to mediate between the father and son.
But now, she felt it was inappropriate for her to stay any longer.
‘I’ll go cut some fruit,” Eliza stood up and went to the kitchen.
She stayed in the kitchen for a while, making sure their discussion had finished before returning.
When she sat down, a plate of crab meat was placed in front of her.
Calvin, in his boredom, had arranged the crab meat into a heart shape.
It was rather off–putting.
Eliza grabbed her chopsticks, disrupted the arrangement, and slowly began eating.
