Eliza made a quick call to Belle, telling her that she’d be late and that if she got hungry, she should go ahead and eat without waiting for her.

Calvin met her cold gaze but didn’t respond to her sarcasm. He slowly moved his lips. “How’s my dad?”

Now you care? Where were you earlier?”

Calvin joked with a self–deprecating smile. “You didn’t scold me, so I guess everything’s fine.”

le moved past Eliza and went into the living room to ask Nancy for a first–aid kit to treat the wound.

liza stared at the bloodstain on the carpet, lost in thought.

When she came out, Nancy was already tending to Calvin’s wound, muttering, “How did you cut so deep? What if the blood doesn’t stop? We should go to the ospital.”

It’s fine. Just a little bandage will do,” Calvin said nonchalantly.

lancy’s eyes welled up with tears again. “This isn’t okay. We need to go to the hospital.”

he looked to Eliza for help.

liza wanted to say she didn’t care if he lived or died, he was the one who got himself into this mess.
