Seven Years a Fool One Day a Queen (Kristine and Colton) novel Chapter 29

Calv, I was so scared.

The moment Calvin arrived at Regina’s ward, Medea threw herself into his arms, eyes red, her whole body trembling.

My mom just coughed up blood.

Calvin had rushed over the instant he received her call.

The doctors and nurses had already arrived ahead of him, conducting detailed checks.

Calvin held her steady, murmuring reassurances.

After the exam, the doctor told them, Don’t worry. That wasn’t real hemoptysis, just some blood in the phlegm from ruptured capillaries

caused by violent coughing. It’s minor and will heal on its own.

That’s a relief,Medea finally exhaled.

Once the doctor left, she looked at Calvin with embarrassment.

I was just so frightened, my mind went blank. The only person I thought of was you. I called. Did I disturb your rest?

No,he said. You can relax now, right?

She nodded, smiling again. Mm. I’m glad you came.

Soon Caesar hurried in. After hearing the situation, he was relieved.

Thank you for these past few days,he told Calvin. Medea has been exhausted taking care of her mother. Leave this to me now. You two are young, take the weekend to go out and unwind.

He even reminded his daughter, Invite Calvin to dinner on my behalf, as thanks. When your mom’s discharged, we’ll properly host him at our

home.

Medea’s joy was uncontainable. Okay!

Before leaving, she reminded her father to pick up Regina’s lab results from the diagnostics wing.

While searching through the stack of files, a name flashed before his eyes, familiar enough to make him pause.

Ottilie.

Outlie.

The pronunciation was nearly the same, though the characters differed.

The age matched as well.

Probably just coincidence, Caesar thought, relaxing again as he retrieved Yuanke’s report.

Outside the hospital, Medea asked Calvin if he had any restaurant in mind.

He said no.

She suggested Still Waters again. He didn’t object.

But midway, his steps suddenly halted.

What is it?she asked.

His gaze had locked on a spot ahead.

She followed and froze.

It was Eliza. And beside her, Josh.

Her voice rose in surprise: Why are they together again?

A flicker of cold, sharp light flashed in Calvin’s eyes.

Medea didn’t notice. She continued speculating, halfgiddy.

Could it bethey’ve been seeing each other since that time at Western Paradise?

Scorn tinged her smile.

Your secretary really has some tricks up her sleeve.

Calvin gave no comment. His expression only grew colder.

Let’s go. Dinner.

She quickly caught up, but not before casting one last, meaningful glance at the pair.

Eliza had seen them too.

No surprise, once again, Calvin had been summoned by Medea.

She remembered clearly: earlier, when she told him earnestly let’s end this, he hadn’t even answered.

He’d simply taken Medea’s call and walked away without so much as one more word.

So this was how it ended.

Messier, rougher, than the beginning.

But that was fine.

She had already written the full stop.

Whether he acknowledged it or not no longer mattered.

Josh had come to take Eliza to dinner. He said he’d finally decided how she could repay him.

She hadn’t expected the restaurant he booked to be Still Waters.

Life was cruelly ironic.

The place she’d dreamed of visiting with Calvin

In the end, he brought Medea here.

And she came with Josh.

What’s wrong? Don’t like this place?Josh asked when she lingered.

If not, we can switch.

She shook her head with a faint smile. No. I like it here.

Liked it enough to once hope she’d come with the man she loved.

I guessed as much. This place is all over the internetmost girls love the style.

He had reserved a private room, elegantly decorated.

The atmosphere soothed some of her gloom.

When the menu came, he passed it to her. Order whatever you like. But no spicy foodyou know your stomach.

She laughed softly, guilty, and ticked off dishes she’d long craved, including a few spicy ones.

Before he could scold her, she raised her hand in surrender. I’ll just taste them, not more. Promise.

Next time, don’t.He relented.

Midway, Josh stepped out to take a call. When he returned, someone followed.

Eliza recognized the newcomer: Gideon.

Let me introduce-

No need.Gideon cut his cousin off. I know her. Eliza, Secretary to Calvin. No introduction necessary.

His eyes gleamed with the same mocking disdain as always.
