Chapter 92

Despite Calvin wearing a baseball cap that covered half of his face, Eliza immediately recognized him.

Calvin stopped in his tracks, his eyes meeting hers from a distance.

Sunlight gently filtered through the windows, casting soft yellow shadows. Calvin’s chest rose and fell slowly within the warm light.

His lips moved, as though he was about to say something.

Eliza didn’t give him the chance to speak. She turned and walked away, decisively and without hesitation, as if she had never known him.

It felt right to her.

He had weighed his options, and she had made the right decision to walk away in time.

From this moment on, their paths would never cross again.

Calvin stood still for a while before leaving the spot.

On the golf course, Gideon had been losing repeatedly to Josh, his frustration growing as he lost interest in playing.

“Calvin’s been gone for so long. If he doesn’t show up soon, I’ll be stripped of my last shred of dignity!” Gideon complained.

Medea said, “I’ll go check on him.”

After she left, Gideon, still agitated, couldn’t help but gossip, “The two of them are really in sync.”

He then turned to Josh, who was wiping off sweat. “So, what do you think, Josh?”

Gideon scoffed, “Just pretending, huh?”

Josh didn’t bother to explain. He took out his phone and sent a message to Eliza, asking how she was liking her new car.

He knew she was probably busy at the dinner and wouldn’t reply immediately, but he sent it anyway.

He stared at his phone screen for a while, waiting.

Eliza saw the message during a break in her socializing and replied succinctly, “It’s fine.”

Seeing the message, Josh couldn’t help but smile.

Gideon, who had been looking on curiously, asked, “Who’s that? What’s making you smile like that?”

Josh noticed the inquiry and turned off his screen.

Gideon, unable to resist, leaned in closer. “Something’s up with you. Who’s that making you smile so much?”

Josh remained calm and unresponsive, “No one”

“You don’t even know how ‘springtime you looked just now!” Gideon teased

Josh remained silent and focused on his phone.

Medea found Calvin standing on a terrace, smoking.

The ashtray on the nearby trash can had several cigarette butts in it.

Medea frowned and walked over, concerned. “Calvin, are you okay? You’ve been smoking a lot lately.”

Calvin casually extinguished his cigarette, his voice indifferent, “It’s nothing.”

“You’ve been smoking a lot. What’s going on?” Medea pressed.

“It’s family matters,” Calvin replied, his tone cooler.

Medea remembered Gideon’s comment about Calvin not getting along with his father. She gently tried to console him, “Even if your relationship with your father isn’t great right now, parental love is often expressed in ways you don’t see. Maybe one day you’ll be able to resolve this.”

Calvin’s expression remained unchanged as he extinguished the cigarette and turned to her, “I’ll go with you to meet Mr. Sutton from LeadTech

tomorrow.”

Medea’s heart skipped a beat.

She hadn’t expected Calvin to be so attentive to her matters.

She hadn’t even mentioned Mr. Sutton’s situation to him.

“How did you know?” she asked, surprised.

“Secretary Walker mentioned it,” Calvin replied softly, “Didn’t I tell you to talk to me if you need anything?”

His concern made Medea’s heart feel warm, and her voice softened as if she were being spoiled. “Why does Vivian tell you everything? I told her not to bother you, I can handle things myself.”

Calvin raised an eyebrow, “Isn’t it okay to rely on me? I don’t want you to suffer.”

His words made Medea feel even more cared for. She smiled, “I’ll tell you everything from now on, as long as you don’t mind.”

His tone was gentle, “I won’t mind.”

They returned to the golf course, looking affectionate and sweet.

Gideon, eager to gossip, couldn’t wait to share his latest findings. “You guys are back! I’ve got something new to share!”

Medea smiled and asked, “What’s the new thing?”

“Josh’s got a situation!” Gideon said with excitement.

Medea raised an eyebrow, her curiosity piqued, while Baxter, who had been silent, asked, “Who is it? Is she pretty? When are you bringing her to

meet us?”

Josh Jeaned back on the bench and lazily replied, “Very pretty.”

“I knew it! I told you something was going on!” Gideon exclaimed.

Baxter, still curious, asked, “How pretty? Is she as pretty as Medea?”

“Yes,” Josh replied with certainty.

Medea froze for a moment, then her smile slowly faded.

Baxter, now intrigued, said, “You’re making me curious. I’d like to meet her.”

Josh replied, “Not yet. It’s not the right time.”

Despite Gideon and Baxter’s attempts at probing, Josh refused to reveal any more details.

“Calvin, aren’t you curious?” Gideon couldn’t help but ask, noticing that Calvin hadn’t shown any interest in the gossip.‘

Calvin’s voice remained cold as he answered, “What’s there to be curious about? We’ll talk about it when he actually brings her to meet everyone.”

Josh chuckled lightly but didn’t engage further, turning his attention back to his phone.

On Monday morning, Eliza took Enzo to meet Rhett.

Rhett brought along Baxter.

Perhaps because Rhett was present, Baxter’s attitude towards Eliza had softened compared to before; he was even somewhat polite.

But Eliza remained as indifferent as ever, showing no change in her demeanor.

Baxter couldn’t help but feel like he had brought this upon himself.

Had he known things would turn out like this, he wouldn’t have been so harsh on Eliza in the past.
