The guests fawned over the Gray family as if yesterday’s incident at the family chapel had never happened, their flattery flowing without a hint of concern.

The whole place erupted in shock.

With him in town, even the Clinton family, the top tier in Jaffina, were like little kids by comparison.

“Really?” Carlos instantly forgot about Conrad cutting him off earlier, his face lighting up with excitement.

Conrad nodded. “Sorry, I’ve got to head to the airport and pick someone up. You guys do whatever you want.”

Carlos immediately grabbed Richard. “We’re coming with you! Driver, get the car ready!” He didn’t even care whether Conrad agreed or not, and just went ahead and told the driver to prep the car.

Everyone exchanged glances.

The quick-witted ones were already making their excuses and heading straight for the airport.

The paparazzi fell silent, exchanging awkward glances.

They thought, ‘Seriously? Is it that strict?’

One of the veteran reporters quickly powered down his camera and gave a subtle nod, signaling the others. The rest followed his lead, and only then did the plainclothes officers move on.

“What’s up with this? Something is not right here,” one of the paparazzi whispered.

The old reporter shot him a warning look. “Don’t run your mouth, and don’t go poking around.”

He thought, ‘No doubt about it. Some big shot is coming.

At the special passage, Vincent was leading the Third Unit of Red Shadow, all of them here on official orders to handle the pickup.

Colten and Caleb were there, too, along with Hudson and Murray, who had just gotten the call from Jaffina and rushed over.

Everyone’s face was stone-cold serious.

“Mr. Martin!” a voice suddenly called out.

Caleb frowned and turned, clearly surprised to see Carlos showing up here.

Colten, nearby, murmured under his breath, “Conrad?”

Caleb nodded.

Caleb glanced at Carlos. “Is there something you need?”

Carlos was all smiles, looking proud as ever. “Bernard Harper himself is coming to Haliville today, and he is doing it just for Conrad. We’re here to welcome him.”

He straightened his collar, making sure his voice carried, clearly wanting everyone nearby to hear.

Colten and Vincent wondered, ‘Just for Conrad?’

Richard thought, ‘They look pretty run-down and don’t seem like anyone important at all!

The others didn’t even bother to acknowledge him.

“I’m talking to you. Don’t you know any manners?” Richard muttered under his breath, but Carlos quickly nudged him with his elbow to shut him up.

And suddenly, figures emerged from the special passage.

Three young men strode out, all dressed in sleek black, broad-shouldered and lean, their posture screaming authority and hero vibes.

They were Dennis, Eliel, and Fabian, who were the captains of the First, Second, and Fourth Units of Red Shadow. Each was flanked by five of their top operatives, all looking ready for action.

“General!” All eighteen, led by Dennis, Eliel, and Fabian, stood tall and saluted Hudson, all at once.

Every gaze was fierce and resolute.

Richard was left speechless.
