Chapter 282 They Won’t Be Friends
With a deafening bang and clouds of thick black smoke, the drone, right after its lid was popped off, exploded.
Only Eulalia was affected.
The tech guy was doing his best to keep a straight face, but his features were twisted. It was painfully obvious how hard he was trying not to crack up. The rest of the team all turned to stare at Eulalia.
Her once flawless, radiant face was now blackened with smoke, her bangs scorched and curled, and even her Chanel-inspired dress was so ruined you couldn’t tell what it was supposed to be.
Everyone stood there, dumbstruck.
This is… Honestly, there was nothing to say about it.
“Monterra’s R-Series drones will automatically activate within ten seconds of opening the back cover…” Stella just shrugged, sounding totally unconcerned. “It’s got a self-destruct.”
“Boom…” She spread her fingers in a carefree, firework-like gesture, her face totally blank.
A faint smile tugged at her lips.
Eulalia was speechless.
Eulalia gritted her teeth, seething with anger.
But Stella paused for a moment, shot Eulalia a lazy look, and added, “Oh, and the whole R-Series? Monterra dumps those cheap knockoffs on the Farronia battlefield. Not even worth studying.”
Stella eyed the pile of scrap metal with a hint of distaste.
Eulalia shouted, “Why! Didn’t! You! Tell! Me! Earlier?!”
She spat out each word, practically shaking with rage.
Stella lazily lifted her gaze and said, “I did warn you.”
“I heard her!” Emily piped up from the back, hand raised to back Stella up.
After a while, Eulalia asked, “You think you know drones?”
‘She talks a big game, but just stood there watching me get roasted. I don’t even know her yet, and I’m already sick of her,’ Eulalia fumed.
Stella shoved her hands in her pockets, tilted her head, and raised an eyebrow. She said, “Guess I don’t know as much as you do.”
Eulalia was speechless.
‘This is so humiliating! I wish I could disappear right now, Eulalia groaned inwardly, cringing at how badly she’ d embarrassed herself.
But before Eulalia could say anything, Stella looked away and whistled nonchalantly. Instantly, the lions that had been sprawled on the ground all sprang to their feet in perfect sync.
“Go wait over there,” she said, pointing toward Sebastian, who was standing not far away.
‘If I have to hang around these idiots any longer, I’m seriously going to come down with a case of stupiditis,’ Stella thought, rolling her eyes.
Without waiting for anyone else to respond, she turned and strode off, the lions following close behind. Wherever she went, people hurried to clear a path, making her and the lions the most striking sight in the whole camp.
Emerson thought Stella was pissed. He asked, “Ms. Carter, are you about to go…”
Before he could finish, Stella was already yawning and slouching against the ancient tree in the camp. So massive it would take two grown men to wrap their arms around it. She bent one knee, leaned back, and shut her eyes for a nap.

Chapter 282 They Won’t Be Friends She looked wild and totally badass!
Emerson didn’t finish his sentence.
The lions sprawled out under the tree, shooting icy glares at anyone who dared walk past.
“Emerson…” Eulalia mumbled, feeling super embarrassed.
The wrecked drone in front of her was like a hot potato she couldn’t shake off, and she couldn’t help but sneak a nervous glance at Sebastian, hoping he hadn’t seen her mess up.
Eulalia had heard stories about Sebastian for ages, but had never actually met him. In Jaffina, everyone treated him like some mysterious big shot nobody dared talk about.
Eulalia had been hoping this would be her chance to impress Sebastian, but now she’d totally blown it.
Emerson could see right through Eulalia’s tangled thoughts, but he didn’t call her out. He let it slide for his sister’s sake. “Go clean up first,” he said, giving her a way out.
He was basically letting her save face.
The pride Eulalia had shown earlier was nowhere to be seen. She looked utterly defeated as she trudged back to her tent, clearly shaken by what had happened.
“That was so satisfying!” By the tree, Emily leaned against Stella, feeling super pleased. Seriously, she couldn’t stand Eulalia.
‘Stella doesn’t know drones? Yeah right. And she really thought she could show off by taking one apart in front of everyone? Please, she just wanted all eyes on her!’ Emily sneered to herself.
Stella kept her eyes closed, completely still, her long lashes resting against her flawless, porcelain skin.
Emily just stared at her, totally stunned.
“Last time…” Emily hesitated for a moment, finally asking the question that had been burning in her mind all
this time.
She said, “You claimed you were the head of the Dorestan Medical Alliance…” But before she could finish, Stella reached out and pressed a finger to Emily’s soft lips, muting her.
Stella didn’t even open her eyes, calm as ever.
Stella said, “Shh.”
Emily’s heart skipped a beat!
“Porter family’s looking to marry into the Knight family. Mr. Knight’s health is failing, so things might get messy for Jaxon,” Emerson said, shooting a glance at Sebastian.
Lately, Jaffina’s been in turmoil, with all the old heads of the big families dropping like flies. If Lion Squad hadn’
t suddenly stepped in, who knows what kind of chaos these people would’ve caused.
Sebastian tore his gaze away from Stella, cold and detached. “The Knight family is Jaxon’s, and that’s not up for debate.” End of story.
The chill in his voice was unmistakable.
Emerson gave a gentle, easy smile. “The Clinton family will back Jaxon all the way.”
He thought, ‘Until Sebastian says otherwise, who really gets to run the show in Jaffina?
‘Who’d even have the guts to try?’
“And what about Conrad?” Now that Yakov, the pawn who’d been in play for years, was finally revealed, Conrad had unknowingly become a worthless piece on the board.
Sebastian looked up, his gaze icy and merciless. “The Gray family and Conrad are already deeply entangled. Let them savor their triumph for a couple more days.”
Suddenly, Emerson’s phone buzzed. He glanced down, and his face darkened for a moment.
Sebastian said, “What’s up?”

Chapter 282 They Won’t Be Friends
Emerson gave a faint smile. “Another person showing up this month, claiming to be a long-lost relative.”
His tone was flat, like he was totally used to it. Over the years, a dozen or so people had come around with fake necklaces, trying to prove they were part of the family. The Clinton family was numb to it by now.
He let out a sigh.
“Sophie’s health isn’t great. Every time one of those fakes shows up claiming to be family, it really takes a toll on her. Sometimes she gets a fever, other times she has to be hospitalized.
“So after a while, we just stopped bringing it up,” Emerson said, his expression growing somber.
But his whole demeanor softened when he talked about his sister. “When the time comes, I’ll introduce Sophie to Ms. Carter. I think they’ll end up friends.”
Hearing that, Sebastian glanced at Emerson, his gaze deep and impossible to read.
