Chapter 287 The Order
The heavy privacy curtains around the factory automatically slid shut, keeping everything under wraps.
Blake’s face went blank as darkness closed in around him.
Blake called out, “Stella?” His voice was abruptly cut off.
At the sight before him, Blake’s eyes widened in shock, and he felt his blood start to boil.

In the esports room, Sebastian was holding Stella in his arms, his gaze fixed on the monitor.
Even though he wasn’t there in person, he could sense Blake’s shock from miles away. Sebastian pressed a gentle kiss to Stella’s ear and whispered, “We’ve finally cracked the lon Wing Drones deadlock!”
Stella’s fingers moved calmly across the keyboard, white code flickering to life on the black screen.
At that very moment, every lon Wing Drones home drone in Haliville silently underwent a legendary forced upgrade, so fast that nobody even noticed.
When it was all done, Stella stretched lazily and nonchalantly said to Blake on the other end of the phone, “Wake up,” she said, her voice casual. She snapped her slender fingers.
Blake snapped out of his shock, tears streaming down his face. “Stella?”
His heart was trembling.
Even after everything had calmed down and the heavy privacy curtains slid open again, dust motes caught the sunlight, swirling around Blake like flecks of gold.
“I-” Blake choked out, his voice shaky with emotion.
‘lon Wing Drones is saved!’ Blake thought, his heart thumping like crazy.
Stella lazily picked up the half-empty glass of water on the table and took a calm sip. “Did you get the invitation from Conrad Lab?”
Blake, still teary-eyed with joy, nodded. “Yeah!” Then, as if remembering something, he added, “The Pierce Group just signed a major deal with Conrad. We’re going to be working closely on CoreOne Chip 1.0.”
That was the hot topic in the Chad group chat today.
Stella nodded lazily. “Got it. Make sure you bring Mr. Pierce on time the day after tomorrow.”
“And dress like you actually care,” Sebastian added, his voice icy.
‘Ugh, he is roasting me again!’ Blake thought, feeling a little attacked.
Stella said, “Starting now, nobody goes in or out of this factory. Clear?”
Blake nodded like a little goofball.
“Alright, I’m hanging up,” Stella said, not wasting another word. She ended the call, and the next second, Sebastian reached over her, tapping out a string of code. A list popped up on the screen.
Stella raised an eyebrow and turned to look at Sebastian.
The list showed everyone involved in the upcoming business with Conrad. He even threw in a mind map to make things crystal clear.
‘Wow, that’s actually pretty thoughtful, Stella thought.
Sebastian tried to play it cool, but you could practically see “Praise mel” written all over him.
Stella sighed helplessly.
Meanwhile, Penelope was on the phone, looking absolutely smug and satisfied.
Her son Xander had just sealed a huge deal with Conrad, and the news had already leaked; her phone hadn’t stopped ringing with congratulations all day

One call came after another.
Xander had just gotten home from work.
“Xander!” Penelope hung up, her smile blooming as she came out of the kitchen with a steaming bowl of soup. “I made this, drink up!”
She handed him the freshly delivered invitation.
Penelope said, “Xander, can I ask you a favor?”
Xander asked, “What is it?”
Penelope immediately leaned in, eyes sparkling. “Can you get me a few more invitations? Some of my friends want to come and see what all the fuss is about. I heard it’s going to be packed the day after tomorrow.”
Xander said, “I’ll call Conrad.”
He whipped out his phone and dialed Conrad right away. Penelope started play-by-play reporting in the family group chat and her friends’ group chat. The praise was nonstop.
[Xander’s really got it together!]
[The Pierce Group is in good hands with Xander!]
In the family group chat, only Kendrick and Blake stayed silent.
Xander, phone still in hand, glanced at his mom and asked, “How many do you want?”
Penelope instantly held up three fingers, then switched to four.
Xander said, “Dr. Kramer, can I get five invitations?”
As soon as he said that, Penelope’s eyes sparkled. ‘That’s my boy, so much better than Blake! Just wait till the event, Dad will be kicking himself!’ she thought.
After hanging up, Xander said, “They’ll bring them over in a bit.” He finished his soup calmly. “I’m heading upstairs.”
Penelope quickly chimed in, “Don’t overwork yourself, Xander!”
Then she grabbed her phone again to show off.
She was grinning from ear to ear.
The next day, Stella came downstairs in her Edenbury Academy uniform, looking lazy and aloof as she walked into the dining room.
“Morning,” Stella said. Sebastian was the only one there. She pulled out a chair and sat down. When she spotted John, something clicked for her; she grabbed a piece of paper and a pen, scribbling a few lines.
“John, can you run to the hospital for me today?” Stella handed him the note, and with a ping, 150 thousand was instantly transferred to John’s account.
John asked, “Ms. Carter, what’s this for?”
Stella poured herself a cup of black coffee. “Hospital bills. Pay it for the person on the note.”
She was the type who always kept her word. Since she’d promised Broderick she’d take care of 10 million and Chadwick when he left, she never broke a promise.
John nodded. “Got it. I’ll head over right now.”
He gave Sebastian a quick nod and left the dining room.
Jake, still rocking a black eye, was standing awkwardly in the corner. It took him a moment to realize Sebastian was staring at him, totally stone-faced.
Jake tiptoed out of the dining room.
“Here, eat up,” Sebastian said, pushing a sandwich toward Stella. She just rested her chin in her hand and stared at him.
