As Stella sauntered toward the hospital, giving a lazy wave to the gang, Xander and Penelope both felt a sudden chill run down their spines.

Inside Haliville Second Hospital, as Stella walked in, she saw Emy having a heated argument with another doctor.

“Glioblastoma, and it’s malignant, plus it’s wrapped around the middle cerebral artery?

“Emily, who do you think you are, coming here and asking to use our OR?” The person standing across from her was Quinlan, chief of Haliville Second Hospital, who looked ready to explode after getting the call.

He continued, “You’re already the youngest woman surgeon, and you’re about to join the Dorestan Medical Alliance! There’s no reason for you to take on this kind of risk!”

“She’s not the one doing the surgery,” a calm, almost chilly voice suddenly cut in.

Quinlan whipped his head around. “Who? Then who’s stepping up?”

He looked toward the source of the voice and saw a girl in a loos black T–shirt, with deep–set eyes and pale skin, looking every bit as lazy and aloof as she was beautiful.

Stella walked over with cool confidence, hands in her pockets, completely unfazed.

She said lazily, “Me.”

Quinlan was left speechless.

Blake froze for a moment.

The gang behind her was left speechless.

Emily raised a hand to cover her eyes, looking anxious.

Quinlan actually laughed. “Who?”

Stella replied, her face completely expressionless, “Me.”

Quinlan’s face changed in a flash, his mustache practically bristling as he glared. “Are you kidding me?! How old are you? Are you even legal yet?

“Do you even know what a glioblastoma is? Let me tell you, theres only one person on this planet who can do this surgery with a 100% success rate. You know who that is? It’s Shark!”

Stella sighed helplessly.

Emily was speechless.

Emily looked like she wanted to say something, but just covered her face, too anxious to speak.

Seeing Quinlan gearing up for another tirade, Stella couldn’t be bothered to argue, so she just sighed and dialed a number.

The person on the other end picked up instantly, super excited, and started going off just as animatedly.

“Stop!” Stella cut in.

She raised her hand, motioning for Quinlan to quiet down. “Yea Haliville Second Hospital… Whatever, not important,” Stella spoke into the phone, sounding totally unfazed. “Tell himm the one doing the surgery.”

Then she handed the phone over to Quinlan.

“Here, it’s for you,” she said.

Even though he knew the person on the other end couldn’t see lm, Quinlan was practically groveling, falling over himself to please. “Yes, yes, yes!”

Quinlan hung up the phone, still dazed, staring at Stella like he couldn’t believe what had just happened.

Stella reached out her hand toward him.

Quinlan, still in a daze, reached out, thinking she wanted to shake hands, just as their hands were about to meet.

But Stella just shifted her hand to the side, dodging his.

“Phone,” Stella prompted.

Quinlan was stunned.

He handed the phone back with both hands, not a trace of that sug sneer left on his face.

“I–I’ll get someone to set up the OR right away,” Quinlan stammered, sweat beading on his forehead.

Stella answered.

Blake froze for a moment.

Quinlan wandered off, still in a daze.

“Stella,” Blake called out, sniffling, blood still trickling from his nose. He was covered in dirt from head to toe, looking like he’d just been fished out of a dumpster.

Stella just gave a nonchalant hum and brushed a piece of grass off his collar.

“Do you trust me?” she asked, her voice lazy and unbothered.

Blake nodded without hesitation. “I do!”

‘I’ll always be her most loyal little goof!‘ Blake thought, totally devoted.

Stella glanced up at Blake. “Then just wait patiently.”

“Wait for what?” one of the gang asked, looking totally lost.

Stella let out a soft laugh. “Wait for me to drag Mr. Pierce back from the King of Hell himself!”

A moment later, Blake and the gang watched as Stella and Emily stepped into the elevator.

The second the doors closed, Blake hit the floor with a thud, rolling around and howling, “Ow, ow, ow, ow, ow!” He felt like every bone in his body was about to snap.

The gang was speechless.

‘So you were toughing it out for show, huh?‘ the gang thought.

‘Even now, you’re still trying to save face in front of Stella?‘ the ging thought, rolling their eyes.

“Mr. Pierce…” The gang had just helped him up when they suddenly froze, then instinctively dropped him.

Blake crashed to the ground again.

He kept howling.

Nobody said a thing.

One of the gang even kicked him while he was down.

A dark shadow suddenly loomed overhead.

“You guys…” Blake opened his eyes, about to say something, but the words just stuck in his throat.

‘No way… Is that Sebastian?‘ Blake thought, eyes wide.

‘Must be the pain messing with my eyes, Blake thought, trying to snap out of it.

He closed his eyes and smiled.

‘No way,’ he thought.

‘Sebastian’s probably still on the island,‘ he reminded himself.

But that face, even upside down, Sebastian was still ridiculously handsome.

“Mr. Gray!” The gang started shouting, their voices ringing out in excitement.

Blake froze for a moment.

He sprang to his feet in an instant.

He met Sebastian’s gaze.

Blake was totally stunned. Sebastian stood there, with John right behind him. Dressed in a jet–black shirt, his flawless face looked like it was sculpted from ice and jade.

He’d never been the warm and fuzzy type. Right now, his whole aura was glacial.

“S–Sebastian,” Blake muttered, his shoulders slumped.

Nobody dared to make a sound.

The next second, Sebastian lifted his hand. Blake instinctively shrank back, bracing for a smack. But instead, Sebastian’s cold, steady palm landed on his shoulder, giving it a gentle, reassuring pat.

Blake’s head snapped up.

Tears burst out of his eyes all at once.

“Sebastian, I got beaten up! It hurts so much!” Blake whined, rolling up his sleeves and complaining to Sebastian, showing off all the bruises and welts covering his arms.

There wasn’t a single patch of skin that wasn’t black and blue.

He looked like he was about to cry, all pitiful and wronged.

Sebastian just asked, “So, what do you want me to do about it?”

Blake froze for a moment.

‘Huh?‘ Blake thought, totally thrown off.

Before Blake could get a word out, Sebastian turned to him, looking dead serious. “Want me to tear down the house to help you vent?”

“Uh. Wait, what?” Blake blurted out, totally caught off guard.

He was completely baffled.

“Tear down a house? Wait, whose house are we talking about? Where?‘ Blake was totally baffled, his mind spinning.

“John,” Sebastian said, his voice low and icy. John, the infamous Ironface, stepped forward with respect. “Are they here yet?”

John answered, “Mr. Gray, they’ve already arrived at the villa entrance.”

Blake froze for a moment.

Blake’s head darted left and right, totally spaced out. His brain was still buffering, trying to process what just happened.

Sebastian said, “Move.”

He turned and strode off.

Blake just stood there, mouth gaping like a confused frog. Before he could even react, John had already grabbed him and hauled him along.

A cold wind swept through.

The gang stood there frozen, still trying to process everything. So… Do we just wait here until Mr. Pierce’s surgery is done?‘ they wondered.

They were confused.

An hour later, inside the operating room.

Stella and Emily walked in one after the other.

“Mr. Gray didn’t come with you?” Emily asked, giving the anesthesiologist and the rest of the crew a quick nod. Since they were all on the same team, no need for formalities.

Stella yawned behind her mask.

“Sebastian’s asleep,” she said.

Didn’t wake him when I left.

Emily paused, giving Stella a skeptical look. “You sure about that

“Doctor, we’ve got…” Another patient, already knocked out, was wheeled in, cutting Emily off. The third assistant checked the chart. “Acute appendicitis.”

Stella sighed helplessly.

Emily was shocked.

Behind her mask and cap, Stella’s eyes narrowed with a dangerous glint.
