Big Ben had already finished digging the hole and looked up at Lucas, giving him a thumbs–up.

Lucas kept a straight face as he carefully pulled out the lock of hair Allan had cut off. He’d even tied it up with his favorite shark hair tie.

He clasped his hands together, closed his eyes, and said a little prayer. Then, with a plop, he dropped the hair into the hole.

His eyes sparkled with anticipation.

Then he started filling in the hole.

“Plant a hair, harvest a hair. May it grow back thick and strong,” Big Ben murmured, hands clasped in a little prayer.

Snowball wagged the tip of his tiny tail with extra enthusiasm.

Suddenly, Big Ben felt a tap–tap on his shoulder.

“Who’s there?” Big Ben snapped his head around.

He was greeted by a grinning white skull sporting a wild afro wig flashing him a creepy smile.

Big Ben felt silent.

‘Did I just see a ghost or what?‘ Big Ben thought, feeling completely spooked.

‘Not sure. Better check again. Big Ben thought, taking another look at the skull.

He couldn’t take his gaze off Stella.

Five shadows suddenly descended at the same time.

Lucas, still squatting on the ground, looked up to see five faces beaming down at him, all grinning. “Kiddo-”

Lucas’s eyes went wide.

He blinked rapidly.

Meanwhile, Snowball was dangling in mid–air, pinched by his midsection and swaying back and forth, making nothing but muffled sounds.

‘Fucking the aba!‘ Snowball thought, totally speechless.

It was the next morning,

Stella sensed something unusual as she came downstairs.

She poured herself some water at the island. When she looked up, Allan was by the window, holding the Obsidian Orchid, enjoying the sunlight, and watching her.

He couldn’t take his gaze off Stella.

As soon as Stella glanced over, Allan quickly looked away.

Stella was speechless.

‘His acting is a little too dramatic.‘ Stella thought.

Stella took a sip of water, and sure enough, Allan’s thoughtful gaze found its way back to her.

He stared at Stella.

Stella set her glass down, face totally blank. Just as she was about to speak, a cute, muffled snore drifted into her ears.

‘Wait, is that snoring coming from the tree?‘ Stella thought, slightly confused.

He tilted his head up to look at her.

Up in the garden tree, Snowball was curled into a big fluffy ball, with Lucas sprawled on top of him, thumb in his mouth, sleeping like a baby.

He looked just like a chubby little cherub, all milky and adorable,

And right under the tree—

Big Ben had plugged himself in and was now totally zonked out, deep in sleep mode.

Stella sighed helplessly.

‘Were they out digging for treasure last night or what?‘ Stella wondered.

Why do they all look so wiped out?‘ Stella thought.

Seeing Stella look up at the tree, Allan’s eyes lit up. He’d been tossing and turning all night, unable to sleep. The question of whether Stella was the Clintons‘ lost daughter had occupied his thoughts all night.

‘This is it!‘ Allan thought, his heart pounding with excitement.

Allan hugged the Obsidian Orchid and tiptoed over, sneaking up right behind Stella.

He lifted his hand.

Just need to grab a single strand…‘ Allan thought, his fingers itching to snatch a hair.

‘Just a strand… just a little bit… just a single hair…‘ Allan muttered in his mind, his fingers tingling with excitement. Then he kept muttering that in his mind.

‘Once I get it, straight to the lab for a DNA test!‘ Allan thought, a sly grin spreading across his face.

He giggled.

In Allan’s mind, a cartoon mini–me was standing with his hands on his hips, cackling like a villain. ‘Damn, I’m a genius!” he thought, feeling smug.

He stretched out his evil claw, ready to snatch a strand of hair.

The very next moment, Stella’s lazy voice floated over, “Touch my hair and I’ll chop your hand off!”

Her words were icy cold.

She didn’t even bother to turn around.

Allan froze, momentarily speechless.

His smile froze on his lips.

“Stella, do you have eyes in the back of your head or something? Allan gawked, completely floored.

Stella shot him a sideways glance.

She arched an eyebrow.

‘Does he seriously think his sketchy little scheme was actually subtle?‘ Stella thought, rolling her eyes.

By the stairs, Sebastian was coming down, talking on the phone.

He replied in a flat voice, barely showing any emotion, and shot Allan a look as he passed.

Allan didn’t know what to say for a moment.

He instantly took a big step back, hugging the Obsidian Orchid for dear life.

Sebastian hung up the phone.

He walked over to them. “Bernard’s leaving Jaffina today. He wants us to drop by.” Then he turned to Allan and added, “Call Morgan.”

Allan instantly straightened up. “On it.”

“Let’s eat first,” Sebastian said, then reached over with practiced case and tied Stella’s hair into a loose, low bun, messy but stylish, with a few strands falling casually by her cheeks, making her already stunning face look even more refined.

Stella gave a lazy wave of her hand, signaling him to look up.

Sebastian looked up.

Lucas slept soundly.

Sebastian was speechless.

He lifted his foot and gave Snowball’s tree a solid kick.

Lucas blinked sleepily, rolled over without thinking, and dropped straight into Uncle Sebastian’s expressionless arms with a dull thud.

Lucas let out a big yawn.

‘Ugh, so sleepy… he thought, still half–asleep.

Lucas was so sleepy his eyelids were practically glued shut.

His tiny hands just clutched his spoon, totally zoned out.

Stella rested her chin in her hand, eyeing Lucas as she drifted in thought.

There was a weird noise coming from the corner. Someone was licking their tongue.

Sebastian was speechless.

Then the noise sounded again.

Stella was confused.

The noise sounded again and again.

Allan didn’t know what to say for a moment.

Everyone turned in unison to see where the noise was coming from. It was Jake.

That big goof was hugging his phone, tapping away, and clicking his tongue nonstop.

John rolled his eyes.

He lifted his foot and gave Jake a solid kick.

“Ow! John, what was that for?” Jake yelped, rubbing his butt and looking genuinely wronged.

John shot him a cold look and jerked his chin toward Sebastian.

Jake turned his head.

He was stunned for a moment.

Allan took a sip of his coffee. “What’s with all the noise?”

Jake instantly perked up, his eyes lighting up. “Those rich families in Jaffina just got robbed!”

Even John glanced over at his brother, eyebrows raised in surprise. “Robbed?”

Stella paused, one eyebrow arching. ‘Wait, what?‘

Allan took a sip of his rich coffee. “Now that’s interesting.

Lucas’s little head kept nodding against the table.

‘So sleepy… he thought, barely able to keep his eyes open.

Jake glanced down at his phone. “Those rich families are too embarrassed to go public about it, so they all want the Lion Squad to look into it.”

“So what got stolen?” Allan set his coffee cup down. These people always act so high and mighty, and now that they’ve been robbed, they’re still worried about saving face?‘

Jake just grinned.

‘Here comes the list,‘ Jake thought, grinning to himself.

“Imperial jade beads!” Jake announced.

Lucas, who was practically dozing off at the table, suddenly perked up like he’d just received a secret signal. Before anyone could react, he jumped down from his chair and dashed straight for the outside corner.

A moment later, he came running back and tossed a string of gleaming, emerald–green imperial jade beads onto the table.

Stella was confused.

Sebastian was speechless.
