Chapter 403

“Mr. Penn,” Carmelo cried out, his voice choked with tears.

The medical skills he once boasted about were now turned against him, used to utterly defeat him.

Every strike was lethal, cutting straight to the bone and leaving him no chance to fight back.

Carmelo knew perfectly well that his exposure as a fraud who never mastered the Synergy Needles made him a disposable pawn to the Tongalia Alliance. Remaining there any longer, he dared not imagine what the enraged and humiliated Quinto might do to him.

As Carmelo met Quinto’s cold, menacing gaze, beads of sweat rolled down his forehead.

‘I don’t want to die,’ Carmelo thought.

Right now, all he could do was throw himself at Paul’s mercy. Even if it meant groveling or doing whatever it took, he had to find a way back to Clusia.

Emily arched her brows sharply, her beautiful face blazing with disdain. She said, “Get lost.”

She gave Carmelo a sharp kick to the shoulder.

‘Son of a bitch, Emily thought.

Ignoring the pain, Carmelo crawled to clutch Paul’s leg. Seeing Paul’s crippled hand, a greedy triumph flashed in his eyes. He said, “Mr. Penn, you must forgive me. Your hand is ruined; only I can still perform Penn’s Acupuncture.”

Paul stood there, his face stern and colder than ice.

Meanwhile, the live chat was exploding.

[This is sickening. Mr. Penn’s not really going to forgive him, right?]

[But his hand is useless now. If he doesn’t forgive Carmelo, Penn School’s finished. Carmelo knows it, that’s why he’s so full of himself.]

[How can anyone be this shameless?]

[Fuck.]

Comments scrolled fast.

Suddenly, someone asked, “Must?”

She let out a mocking chuckle, and everyone instinctively turned to look at her.

“The only one?” Stella said.

Everyone stood there, left speechless.

That bone-chilling feeling crept back over everyone.

Stella walked over slowly, stopping right in front of Carmelo and looking down at him like he was nothing

more than an ant.

Carmelo’s back was soaked in cold sweat.

The pressure from Stella was intense; her commanding aura and the way she seemed to have everything under control just made Carmelo look even more pitiful.

“It’s already too late today,” Stella said nonchalantly, her long lashes casting shadows across her face. “Tomorrow, at the International Herbal Medicine Conference, I’ll be giving everyone a big surprise.”

Her tone was light and effortless, as if she were just talking about the weather.

Carmelo’s smug grin froze on his face.

Quinto frowned.

Behind him, the members of the Herbal Medicine Guild exchanged uneasy glances, their faces grim.

[Why not tonight? Why not NOW?]

[A big surprise? It’s driving me crazy! What is it, seriously?]

[Guess I’m not sleeping tonight. Someone save me.]

Right now, the live stream had blown up, from 60 million to over 80 million viewers, and it was about to hit 90 million. All because of Stella’s teaser, the chat was flooded with desperate cries from fans everywhere.

Stella smiled and said, “Let’s just wait and see.”

Night had fallen.

Inside the presidential suite, as Paul and the others followed Stella in, an unusual silence hung in the air.

Sebastian was lounging on the black leather sofa, the plain plant basking in the moonlight and gazing up at the moon, while Lucas was sprawled out on his lap, sound asleep. The room still carried a lingering, exotic fragrance.

Emily glanced at the carpet, her voice uncertain, asking, “That stain, it’s not blood, right?”

Emily looked at the dark mark, hesitated for a second, then couldn’t help but ask.

“No,” Sebastian and Stella answered in unison.

Sebastian’s tone was ice-cold, while Stella’s was totally laid-back.

Everyone fell into silence.

They thought, ‘Alright, whatever you say.

‘If you say so, then I guess it’s not.’

Just as everyone settled in, John strode out from the back room, his face stone-cold, hauling two men, one in each hand.

The men were completely out, hitting the floor with a heavy thud and a rustling sound.

The others were speechless.

Maybe it was the horrified looks everyone was giving him, but John paused, his face expressionless. He said, “Sorry, I’ll go easy.”

‘Seriously? Is going easy even the issue here?’ everyone thought.

Stella stayed completely unfazed, her elegant brows lifting just a touch. She asked, “How many waves of people came by tonight?”

“Two,” Sebastian answered, his gaze still icy, absently running his hand over Lucas’s head.

Those guys

didn’t even get a chance to react before the plain plant’s scent wiped them out. By the time Sebastian returned, the carpet was already covered with unconscious bodies.

The little peregrine falcon popped its head out of Sebastian’s pocket.

It cupped its face with its wings, looking adorably smug.

Thanks to Sebastian’s endless snacks, it was now a chubby little ball.

Stella gave Sebastian a look, half-amused, half-teasing.

Callum gaped. He asked, “How did this bird get so fat?”

Sebastian fell silent.

He reached out and poked the peregrine falcon’s chubby cheeks with both index fingers.

“Don’t listen, it’s just haters talking,” Sebastian said.

He even tossed it a dried bug as emotional compensation for the rude comments.

His face stayed completely expressionless the whole time.

Everyone was speechless.

Later, with a scraping sound, John, who was hauling out the second batch of intruders, paused mid-drag.

All eyes turned to him.

John said, “My bad.”

Stella lounged back on the sofa like a boss, absentmindedly twirling Blackie between her fingers. She glanced up at Paul, her tone cool and commanding. She asked, “Mr. Penn, there’s something I want your answer to.”

Paul immediately straightened up, his expression serious. He replied, “Go ahead.”

Stella’s gaze grew colder, as if she was about to say something.

The next day, the sky was thick with clouds.
