Shadows Reveal Hidden Light — Wayne Sanders novel Chapter 170

Chapter 170 Public Enemy

When the other students saw what was happening, they rushed in to help.

“Another ambush!”

“Protect Joannal”

“Joanna, run!”

One after another, students attacked. Skill after skill slammed into Perry.

Perry flew into a rage.

“Stay out ins,” he shouted. “This is between me and Joanna!”

“Between my foot and your face, someone yelled back. Everyone, get him!”

“Take him down!”

The attacks came even faster.

Perry possessed an SSS-rank talent, a trait shared by the others. When they attacked together, he was overwhelmed and killed on the spot.

A Substitute Scarecrow dropped onto the ground.

The crazed Alfie was caught in the chaos as well. He was beaten to death in the crowd, and another Substitute Scarecrow appeared beside his body.

Joanna recognized their voices. She knew exactly who they were.

They couldn’t beat her in the arena, so they tried to gant up on her in a public dungeon. That thought lit real killing intent in her heart.

A Substitute Scarecrow could only teleport its owner about half a mile away. Joanna activated Celestial Gaze and instantly locked onto their revival locations.

Alfie revived first. Still half-mad, he ran in a random direction. Joanna blinked. The space around Alfie collapsed inward. He died again,

Another Substitute Scarecrow appeared.

Joanna didn’t stop. She killed him a third time. This time, his body burst into a lump of blood and flesh and fell to the ground.

Alfie was dead.

He died for good, but Perry survived. When space compressed around him, Perry used his shadow-control ability and slipped into the darkness. He barely escaped drenched in cold sweat.

Someone was trying to kill him

The first time, he thought the others just didn’t see clearly. But this second attack was aimed straight at his

life.

What he didn’t know was this-he could dodge attacks, but he couldn’t hide from the eyes in the sky.

The next moment, he was dragged into a purgatory.

Figures began to appear around him. One after another Endless. Packed tight.

Perry looked at them, and he shook in terror. They wer all people he had killed.

After awakening his SSS-rank talent, he lacked resources. In his first year of high school, he was recruited into an assassin group. Right or wrong didn’t matter. Min or woman. Old or young. A target was just a target.

In three years, he took part in three massacres. He even killed babies still wrapped in blankets.

The missions paid well. His growth was fast.

Killing ordinary people was easy. Like crushing ants. It made him arrogant. He looked down on everyone.

But now, every person he had killed raised a whip and struck him.

Outside, only one second passed.

Then Perry fell out of the shadows and collapsed onto the ground.

He was still breathing.

But his soul was shattered. He became a vegetable.

Out in the wild, people like that didn’t last long. Hungry monsters quickly swarmed and tore him apart.

He had no second Substitute Scarecrow.

Perry was truly dead.

Joanna hadn’t expected Celestial Gaze to work together with Lash Purgatory like this. It let her cast Lash Purgatory from a much longer distance, as long as she could see the target through Celestial Gaze.

Now both attackers were completely gone. No loose ends left.

Even better, both of them had covered their faces with loaks. No one could identify them.

Still, this world never ran out of idiots.

Keith suddenly threw off his cloak and shouted, “Everyone stop! Perry already said this was a private grudge. Why did you kill him? You even wasted one of his Substitute Scarecrows!”

“Who the hell are you?” someone snapped, also pulling off their cloak and glaring at him.

“You attack someone and still think you’re right? A private grudge means nothing. Fighting in a safe zone is not allowed, and you even attacked our classmate!”

“I’m your classmate too!” Keith yelled. He cursed at the people who interfered. He thought he was already famous, a big deal. But no one recognized him. Joanna on the other hand, was well known now. Many people were standing up for her..

Finally, someone recognized Keith.

“Oh, I know him. He’s the guy who posted trash about Janna the moment school started. That Fisher guy or whatever, right?”

“So you’re that snake.”

Keith’s face turned red. He was famous now, but for all he wrong reasons.

“What snake? I just made a post. I was joking with Joann. She can’t take a joke and challenged us to a duel. We’re out of credits right now, so of course we’re getting them back from her. That’s why I said it was a private matter. Stay out of it. Joanna, if you’ve got guts, uel me in public!”

Before Joanna could respond, the crowd exploded. “Her summoned beasts aren’t even here! That’s just taking advantage of her!”
