But when Rhoda actually saw Bruce lying in the hospital bed, looking pale and worn out, her heart softened.

What had the rich kid done wrong?

He wasn’t wrong at all. Bruce just looks way too pitiful.

Lucas asked, “What’s wrong with you? Get up. We still have a quest today.”

Bruce wasn’t feeling well, but out of habit, he obeyed. He forced himself up from the bed.

In truth, he hadn’t slept all night. He had thought about many things.

Over the past three years, whenever he got sick or felt unwell, Joanna was always the first to notice. She was always the first to care.

But this time, he was hospitalized. If it weren’t for today’s team quest, his teammates wouldn’t even have checked on him.

After they arrived, no one asked how he was feeling.

Some of them even blamed him for getting sick and delaying the team.

Bruce’s head throbbed with pain.

“Lucas, did we make a mistake?” he asked.

Lucas’s expression shifted slightly.

“What mistake?”

Bruce lowered his eyes and stared at the floor. His sharp chin looked like it could pierce the ground. In just two days, he seemed much thinner.

“Should we not have kicked Joanna out of the team?”

He finally said it.

At that moment, everyone’s faces changed, as if their cover had been ripped away.

Rhoda was the first to panic.

Bruce pressed his lips together and didn’t dare say another word.

Lucas patted his shoulder and said in a deep voice, “Whether it’s right or wrong, what’s done is done. Besides, a temporary loss doesn’t mean much.”

Cedric snorted. “Joanna has a transcendent beast now. She’s gotten arrogant and doesn’t take us seriously. She even kicked us out of the villa. I must’ve been blind before, thinking she was great. Now that I think about it, she’s just average. She doesn’t care about old bonds at all.

“Just wait. She’s a Summoner. Raising a transcendent beast requires huge resources. Pets also split the owner’s experience. The more pets she has, the more her growth slows.

“Our levels will surpass hers sooner or later.

“When we’re stronger, even if she begs me, I won’t forgive her.”

Rhoda thought to herself.

There was only one month left before the SAT.

No one knew who would be stronger in the future.

But right now, Joanna is clearly the strongest.

Lucas, however, agreed with Cedric.
