Finished

“When you become strong enough that people have to look up to you, you won’t need to apologize to anyone you once offended,” Rhoda said calmly. “Instead, they’ll come back on their own and ask to make peace.

“But if you keep getting weaker, no one will even notice you.

“Bruce, don’t give up on the things that can make you stronger.”

Bruce lowered his head. He didn’t want to accept this.

Cedric frowned. “Why are you hesitating? You’ve already offended Joanna anyway. Don’t regret it now. Can’t you see it? Once you’re strong, Joanna will come crawling back and lick your boot.”

Neil spoke up as well. “Think about it. That dagger, and even the funding we got today, were both things Joanna refused. She doesn’t want us to grow stronger. She also wants to be able to leave us anytime she wants. If you don’t want a day to come when you can’t even see her back as she walks away, then pick up your weapon and fight.”

That finally hit Bruce.

He had been abandoned.

No warm, fresh-baked cake for him.

All of it was because he wasn’t strong enough.

At last, he reached out and took hold of the dagger that symbolized his betrayal.

Inside the villa, Joanna finished her meal.

Her stats jumped up by 10 attribute points.

That felt amazing.

She decided she would eat food like this more often.

Just then, her communicator buzzed. She opened it and saw a notification from the strategy

group.

“Your guide post about Fruit vs. Zombies was well written and made a major contribution to the Space Alliance’s strategy database. Special reward granted by the strategy group: 1 Silver-tier piece of gear. Please claim it.”

Silver-tier gear from the strategy group?

Joanna instantly knew what it was.

She opened the marketplace, found the assigned listing, and bought the gear for 1 Starcoin.

“Memory Tome (Silver-tier): Attack Power +500, All Attributes +100

“Special Effect: Battle Recording

“Note: Details you failed to notice will be captured and shown in the Memory Tome.”

As expected, it was standard strategy group gear. An offhand item, similar to a magic book.

When Joanna equipped it, the Memory Tome floated beside her, slowly circling her body.

Anyone who carried this book was considered a scholar. It meant you had made contributions beyond normal strategy points.

Wherever you went, people would show you respect.

  1. We’re heading to the plaza,” Joanna said.

Most of it was for Alwyn. She explained why they need to fight monsters.

Alwyn was an intelligent contracted companion. Some companions with bad tempers refused to enter dungeons. Every fight had to be negotiated, often in exchange for expensive items like crystal cores.

As for Nighthowl, he had started as a pup, so Joanna had always been in control.

After hearing her explanation, Alwyn’s eyes lit up. It was clear he had grown excited about dungeon battles.

Good. My companions are motivated.

That made things much easier for me as a Summoner.

They walked out of the campus.

Joanna raised her hand to call a cab.

While waiting, many students noticed her and the companions beside her, dressed in matching outfits. Whispers of envy spread through the crowd.

“Is Joanna already level 10? She contracted a second summoned beast? Oh my god, both of them look human.”

“Figures. Non-humans are always the coolest.”

“Is she wearing the Spider Lady Suit? That thing costs like half a million dollars! She must be loaded now.”

“Did she sign with a big company?”

“I heard Lucas kicked her out of the team because she got close to Kayden. They said she left on her own, then blamed the team. Maybe all that gear was a gift from Kayden.”
