As a tank class, Lucas had lost 230 points from his maximum HP in just one month.
In the same month, he had lost about 22 pounds.
He was exhausted all the time. He barely ate well anymore.
Only then did it hit him. Back when Joanna was still around, they ate real, natural food and trained regularly. With that routine, they gained attribute points every week.
When Lucas counted it up, they had gained nearly 200 attribute points back then.
But in this last month?
He hadn’t gained a single point. Because of fatigue, his vitality had even dropped by 2 points.
The difference was painfully obvious.
Thinking back, the idea of suppressing Joanna felt ridiculous now. They had cut the string themselves and let the kite fly away.
Lucas pictured Joanna’s face-her calm expression, her old gentleness. The tight anger in his chest finally loosened.
After the SATs, I’ll apologize to her.
It wouldn’t hurt her at all. In fact, after leaving the team, Joanna had risen fast and high. That was a good thing. If anything, she should thank him for letting her go.
He had grown thinner.
If she found out, maybe she’d feel sorry for him-at least a little-after three years together.
Still, with the whole class present, he couldn’t bring himself to lower his pride.
He kept a stiff face and sat on the far side of the room, as if silently facing off against Joanna.
“Next, your breakfast vouchers have been sent to your accounts,” Noelle announced. “Tomorrow morning, you can enjoy one free natural meal. The school has also prepared crystal cakes. Each one boosts a matching attribute for a short time. This is the school’s final supply for you.
“Do your best, everyone!”
With that, Noelle dismissed the class for free activity.

As they passed another classroom, Kayden stood out right away in his full set of silver-tier gear.
It had been over twenty days since they last met.
Kayden wore that annoying smile again. The moment he saw Joanna, his eyes lit up.
“Joanna!”
“Hm? What do you want?” she asked flatly.
David and Irene had wanted her dead. Instead, they found her cautious and far stronger than expected.
Failing to crush her, they chose a new plan: recruit her. They sent Kayden to keep chasing her, hoping to make Joanna work for them.
They overestimated their son. And they overestimated their status as regional managers of the Amshien Group, thinking Joanna would fear them.
Too bad they didn’t know. They were already on Joanna’s kill list.
Kayden, however, noticed none of this. If he had, he wouldn’t have harassed her so obsessively in the past.
“That was all just a misunderstanding,” he said quickly. “My parents made a mistake. Your companion is fine, right? Still, I don’t like them. You should cancel the contract and stop bringing them in front of me.”
Joanna looked at him like he was hopeless. “Kayden, you really are an idiot,” she said calmly. “And you’re annoying. Our arena challenge contract isn’t fully settled yet. I’m applying for immediate enforcement. Now get lost.”
Joanna tapped her professional interface and submitted the request to the Space Alliance system.
Once a contract was formed, it could not be undone. That was the rule.
In the next instant, Kayden was hit by a sharp electric shock as punishment. His body went numb, and he collapsed to the ground, unable to stop Joanna as she walked away.
