Shattered Illusions Love Lies and Redemption (Lizetta and Remington) novel Chapter 1034

Cedric had grown completely accustomed to such instructions. Showing no surprise whatsoever, he acknowledged the order and stepped out. He worked fast. Five minutes later, he returned to the office and informed Remington that Jerome indeed had a private room reserved for noon at a high-end restaurant not far from Madden Media. Remington's expression darkened instantly. "Hasn't Mr. Bright from Summit Corp been trying to set up a lunch to discuss their new VR technology? Let's do it today." Cedric, adept at reading between the lines, immediately replied, "Understood, Mr. Dashiell. I'll book a table there right away." And not just any table—it had to be the private room right next to Jerome's. As an executive assistant, Cedric felt that while his core business skills hadn't grown massively over the past year, his ability to read his boss's mind had reached a master level. Noon. After clocking out from Madden Media, Lizetta stood by the street waiting for a rideshare. She had been dropped off by the Dashiell family chauffeur from Oakridge Heights that morning and didn't have her own car. Before her ride arrived, a flashy red Porsche 911 roared out of the underground parking lot and screeched to a halt in front of her. The driver's window rolled down, and Andrea pushed up her sunglasses with one hand, smiling at Lizetta. "Liz, this car is my new employment gift from Dad. It's my first time driving it! Hop in, I'll give you a ride home." Andrea heavily emphasized that the car was an employment gift from Conrad. Clearly, she knew Lizetta, his actual flesh and blood, had received nothing. She wanted to stab Lizetta where it hurt, but unfortunately, Lizetta felt absolutely nothing. She had no emotional attachment to Conrad and harbored zero expectations. She was long past the age of yearning for a father's love. Besides, ever since she returned to the Madden family, her grandfather had treated her like a precious treasure. Within her first month back, he had built a brand-new private garage for her at the Madden estate, stuffing it full of luxury cars like clothes in a wardrobe. When she moved to Zion City, Jerome had also prepared two cars and a dedicated chauffeur. However, preferring to keep a low profile, Lizetta had asked Jerome for an unassuming daily driver instead. "Liz? Are you upset? If so, I'll just—" Inside the car, Andrea felt a thrill of victory seeing Lizetta stand frozen. Her offer for a ride was entirely fake, and she was just about to say she'd leave first when Lizetta suddenly stepped off the curb, walked around the hood, opened the passenger door, and slid right in. Andrea was stunned that she actually had the audacity to get in. "What are you waiting for? Drive," Lizetta said, buckling her seatbelt before pulling out her phone and loading a mobile game. As the game's background music chimed, Andrea suddenly felt like a lowly chauffeur driving a rich heiress around. Gritting her teeth, she put the car in gear. "Liz, could you stop playing that game? You know I'm used to being driven around. I barely drive myself..." Andrea complained with a frown before they had even gone a block. Lizetta glanced at her and exited the app. "Are your driving skills really that bad?" Andrea smiled bashfully. "I just never had the chance to drive before. I told Dad my skills were rusty and that a car this nice was too much for me. I wanted a regular car to practice on, but he said his daughter deserved the best, and even if I crashed it, it would be worth it as long as I was happy."
