Shattered Illusions Love Lies and Redemption (Lizetta and Remington) novel Chapter 1042

Remington sat with Mr. Bright, discussing the latest technological advancements in Mr. Bright's company. Mr. Bright was eager to secure a joint research and development partnership with the Starlight Group's tech division. However, every time he tried to probe for a solid commitment, Remington effortlessly deflected his questions. For a moment, Mr. Bright couldn't figure out what the man intended. Just as he was growing anxious, Remington spoke up. "Speaking of which, the Madden Group was also deeply involved in developing new tech in this field last year. I heard Mr. Madden booked a private room here at The Grand Chime for lunch today. Why don't we invite him over to exchange ideas? A powerful alliance might just be on the table." Mr. Bright's eyes lit up. Just then, a waiter entered, and he immediately asked where Jerome Madden's room was located. Learning it was right next door, Mr. Bright stood up. "Please wait a moment, Mr. Dashiell. I'll go see if it's convenient for him." To his surprise, Remington stood up as well. "Let's go together. It shows more respect." Overjoyed, Mr. Bright led the way. He had been worried Jerome might brush him off, but with Remington Dashiell by his side, the odds were vastly improved. The two men arrived at the adjacent room, and Mr. Bright knocked on the door. Using his towering height advantage, Remington looked over Mr. Bright's shoulder and swept his gaze across the room. Inside, Jerome Madden sat across from a woman, deep in conversation. The room featured traditional decor, and an ornate silk privacy screen stood near the entrance, obscuring the woman's face and revealing only her slender silhouette. Mr. Bright quickly explained their purpose. Jerome glanced at him before shifting his gaze to Remington. "In that case, why don't you both join us?" Mr. Bright beamed and looked at Remington. "You don't mind, do you, Mr. Dashiell?" "Of course not. If Mr. Madden doesn't mind the interruption, why should I?" With his long legs, Remington stepped into the room first. He chuckled inwardly, thinking his little girl was quite good at keeping her composure. She sat there completely motionless. He wondered what kind of expression she would make when she saw him. However, the faint smirk on his lips vanished instantly as he stepped around the screen and finally saw the woman. There was indeed a young woman sitting across from Jerome. She was quite beautiful, but she was definitely not Lizetta. Remington looked at Jerome, who raised an eyebrow with a half-smile. Remington raised an eyebrow in return. "Is Mr. Madden on a blind date?" Jerome neither confirmed nor denied it, leaving Remington feeling suddenly annoyed. If he had known Jerome was on a date with another woman, he would have fully sponsored their engagement and wedding in a heartbeat. He never would have interrupted. He turned to Mr. Bright, who was just walking in. "Mr. Bright, I suddenly remembered an urgent matter I need to attend to. Besides, it seems Mr. Madden's current situation isn't quite suited for a business discussion." Mr. Bright was speechless. Why was this man changing his mind every five seconds? Before he could say another word, Remington gave Jerome a curt nod, turned around, and walked out. Mr. Bright had no choice but to follow, hurrying to catch up. "Mr. Dashiell..." Remington slowed his pace and glanced back. "Just contact Cedric directly from now on. You can finalize the details with him." Cedric was currently the CEO of the Starlight Group's tech subsidiary. Mr. Bright hadn't expected Remington to agree to the partnership so abruptly. Stunned for a moment, his face soon broke into a massive grin as he shouted his thanks to Remington's retreating back. Since Remington had agreed to meet Mr. Bright today, he had already decided to approve the partnership. Deliberately arranging the meeting here and urging Mr. Bright to knock on Jerome's door had just been a convenient excuse to check on Lizetta. Pulling out his phone, Remington immediately called Lizetta, but it rang endlessly without an answer. The man frowned deeply.
