Shattered Illusions Love Lies and Redemption (Lizetta and Remington) novel Chapter 1074

"Remington is a powerful man, and this involves Liz. Even if we take this to Mr. Madden, he won't intervene. How are we supposed to get justice? I just hope Andrea doesn't blame us..."

Eartha sighed heavily.

Conrad's jaw tightened.

"The old man is entirely too ruthless. Andrea called him Grandpa for over two decades, and the moment he decided to throw her out, he did it without a second thought. If you ask me, Lizetta inherited every ounce of her grandfather's cold-blooded cruelty! How could she manipulate outsiders into treating Andrea like this? The police investigated her brake failure thoroughly—it was clearly her former adoptive mother seeking revenge. What did that have to do with Andrea?"

Eartha wiped away her tears. "This situation is escalating, and the worst part is we still haven't been able to see Liz. We don't even know how the child is doing. If she hasn't woken up yet, that would be terrible...

Shouldn't we inform Mr. Madden? Otherwise... if something horrible actually happens to Liz, we'll have no way to explain it to him."

Conrad frowned. "I'll give him a call then."

He pulled out his phone, but Eartha stopped him.

"The old man's health is fragile. It would be better if I had my dad go over personally to break the news to him face-to-face. That way, if the shock is too much for him, someone will be there to call for a doctor immediately."

"That's a brilliant idea. You always think of everything," Conrad agreed with a nod.

Eartha smiled gently, turning to the side to make the call.

Tranquil Meadows.

Nelson Madden was currently in the backyard vegetable garden with Grandma Bernice, harvesting radishes. Mrs. Bernice Madden was digging enthusiastically, muttering to herself the whole time.

"For Elsa to eat, for Liz to eat. Need to dig up a lot."

Seeing that she had managed to smear a streak of dirt across her nose in the brief moment he looked away, Nelson chuckled and nodded.

"Alright, alright. We'll make a big pot of beef and radish stew for Elsa and Liz, how about that?"

He walked over with a towel and gently wiped the dirt from his wife's nose.

Mrs. Bernice Madden looked up, shaking the fresh dirt off the radish she had just pulled, her eyes sparkling.

"Need to add meat. It smells so, so good."

Arthur Porter was sitting on the living room sofa waiting. The moment he saw Nelson walk in, he immediately stood up.

"Nelson, my old friend! Ever since little Lizetta came back, you've been looking better every single day. Just seeing you walk in right now, you look so sharp and energetic, like you've shaved years off your age."

Arthur had followed Nelson in business for fifty-six years, climbing from an errand-running driver to a secretarial assistant, and eventually becoming a company shareholder.

He was one of Nelson's most trusted confidants. Ever since Nelson lost his daughter and Mrs. Bernice Madden's mind started slipping, he had aged rapidly.

He managed the Madden Group less and less, rarely visiting the office.

Conversely, although Arthur was a year younger than Nelson, his house was full of children and grandchildren.

He lived a life of leisure and indulgence, even keeping a couple of mistresses on the side.

The world was inherently unfair; it was often the selfish and self-serving who lived the easiest, most comfortable lives.

Arthur stood with his back straight, his hair dyed jet black, and his face impeccably maintained, making him look a solid decade younger than Nelson.
