Fiona had dealt with every kind of snake in her lifetime. Eartha had opened her mouth and immediately thrown passive-aggressive shade at Nelson, painting him as petty, narrow-minded, and vengeful toward the Dashiells. Did she really think Fiona wouldn't see right through it?
Rumor had it that Nelson trusted and adored Eartha, treating her like his own daughter after his only child, Elsa, passed away.
Yet here she was, badmouthing the old man behind his back. Fiona had zero interest in hearing what an ungrateful viper like her had to say.
Her tone was icy, and Tina immediately stepped forward to block Eartha's maid from setting down the bags.
"This way, please. Madam needs her rest."
Eartha hadn't expected the old lady to be so ruthless and completely ignore basic social pleasantries.
Her face stiffened, and she panicked.
"Madam Dashiell, I actually came here for my adopted daughter, Andrea! She was kidnapped by Mr. Dashiell. I'm begging you, you have to do something! You can't let him commit a crime like this!"
At her words, Fiona's brow creased sharply. She raised a hand, signaling Tina to step aside.
"What are you talking about? Remington kidnapped your daughter? Who even is your daughter, and why would he kidnap her?"
Tina stepped back, allowing Eartha to breathe a slight sigh of relief.
She had been genuinely terrified the old woman wouldn't even let her speak. But before her relief could fully settle, Fiona's voice cut through the air like a blade.
Eartha put on a distressed face. "You didn't know? Oh, the poor girl... She's had such a hard life. She finally found her real family, and before she could even enjoy it, her adoptive mother tampered with the brakes. She plunged into the lake three days ago and has been in a coma ever since. I'm afraid she'll never wake up. She's so young... When my time comes, I won't even know how to face Elsa in the afterlife."
Tears poured down her face in a masterful display of absolute devastation.
Fiona turned deathly pale and looked at Tina. "Is she telling the truth?"
Tina looked equally shocked. "Madam, don't panic. I'll call the young master right now."
Clearly, Remington had intentionally kept this from the family.
Tina rushed to grab her phone, but Fiona suddenly swayed and collapsed sideways.

The readers' comments on the novel: Shattered Illusions Love Lies and Redemption (Lizetta and Remington)
Does evil really triumph always above the good in this novel ? How comes Stella's evilness has no end? Does the author believes that by giving justice and importance to bad people like Stella will make this novel interesring? I am starting to lose my patience and ask when will the writer finally will realize that the protagonist is Lizetta and not Stella....
