Fiona grabbed him and kept her voice low.
"It's Joseph crying, not Liz. Just leave it. They haven't seen each other in a long time, so don't interrupt. Let them have a proper talk."
Hearing that it was Joseph crying didn't ease the tension on Remington's face; instead, his expression instantly darkened.
He shot Fiona a questioning look. Fiona shut the hospital room door securely before dragging a reluctant Remington off to the side.
Fiona nodded and said.
"Yes, Lizetta knows everything about your mother now..."
Remington furrowed his brows, a sudden wave of panic crashing over him.
"Fiona! I was just making progress in winning my wife back! Do you seriously not want great-grandchildren anymore? Were you just annoyed that things were going too smoothly for me?"
Lizetta had only just agreed to give him the official title of boyfriend. Now that she knew about this, she was bound to resent him all over again.
Fiona felt a twinge of guilt and replied.
"Well, your brother happened to overhear what Eartha Porter Madden said. When he found out what happened to Liz, he was so worried he couldn't sleep all night. He sneaked into the back of Tina's car and followed us to the hospital. He insisted on coming up to see her. You have to understand his intentions. Joseph has been so sensitive for the past six months, and he's your own flesh and blood. Since you aren't exactly showering him with affection, did you expect me to stop him from coming up?"
"Then you should have kept him hidden! That little brat is just causing trouble for me."
Remington pressed his lips into a thin line.
Fiona swatted his arm. "What kind of nonsense is that! You can't even coax your own wife, and you're blaming your brother. Besides, you couldn't hide this from Lizetta forever. Hanna is currently receiving treatment in a psychiatric facility. Liz was bound to find out sooner or later."
Remington sighed helplessly. Of course, he never intended to hide it from Lizetta forever.
He had planned to tell her the truth in a few days.
"Coming clean proactively and having her find out on her own are two completely different things, Fiona."
