Shattered Illusions Love Lies and Redemption (Lizetta and Remington) novel Chapter 1127

Lizetta's muscles involuntarily spasmed from the sharp pain. Her heart lurched, terrified that Stella would notice her reaction.

Before Stella had a chance to process the twitch, Remington violently yanked her off the bed and threw her aside.

She stumbled sideways, her lower back crashing hard against the edge of a table. She cried out in pain.

"You crushed her!"

Remington stepped into the space between the bed and Stella, acting as a physical shield for Lizetta.

Unable to get any closer, Stella leaned against the table, catching her breath. A flicker of suspicion crossed her eyes.

She was almost positive she had felt Lizetta move just now.

She snapped her head up, trying to look at the bed again.

But Remington stood tall before it, holding Ron, his broad shoulders entirely blocking her view.

The man spat furiously, "Get out!"

Frustrated that she couldn't see Lizetta, Stella's doubts began to gnaw at her.

Clutching her lower back, she forced her eyes to well with tears, playing the victim.

"Remington, I didn't mean to fall on her. Please don't be mad, I just..."

Remington had zero patience for her excuses. He cut her off cold.

"Get out! Don't make me tell you a third time."

Stella didn't dare push him any further. Antagonizing him wasn't why she came here.

"Then I'll take Ron and..."

She stepped forward to take the baby, but Ron twisted his little bottom, turning his back to her, and locked his arms tightly around Remington's neck.

"Come on, Ron, you're going home with Auntie Stella."

She coaxed, moving closer. Ron kicked his little legs, scrambling higher up Remington's chest, before he let out two loud farts right in Stella's direction.

Stella froze, instinctively jerking her hands back.

Remington didn't acknowledge her at all. Stella frowned, finally turning and walking toward the door.

Just before stepping out, she couldn't resist casting one last, lingering look toward the bed.

Lizetta still looked like a corpse, the sunlight washing over a face completely devoid of color, her lips a pale, bloodless white.

Stella decided the movement must have been her imagination, or perhaps just a vegetative patient's physical reflex.

She walked out and shut the door.

The room fell into a heavy silence. Even Ron was quiet, his wide eyes glued to Lizetta.

He seemed to be wondering why the pretty lady wouldn't wake up and play with him.

Seeing no reaction from Lizetta, Ron turned his big, watery eyes to Remington.

"Ah ah, wah."

He babbled, smacking his little lips, then impatiently twisted his bottom, trying to crawl back toward the bed.
