"And?"
"It's a deep coma, just as reported. The brain damage turned her into a vegetable."
Martin's words made Eartha's eyes gleam, the corners of her lips twitching upward. Still cautious, she asked,
"Is she absolutely sure? If Lizetta is truly comatose, why has Remington been blocking me and her father from seeing her?"
"He's convinced Andrea was acting on your orders. Naturally, he won't let you near her. There's nothing strange about it," Martin replied coolly.
Eartha finally breathed a sigh of relief and nodded.
"Thank you for delivering the good news, Mr. West."
Martin simply stared at Eartha and gave a curt nod.
"The Madden Group is on the verge of falling into the Porters' hands. Just don't forget our agreement, Eartha."
Martin and Eartha had known each other for years, though they had only ever been passing acquaintances.
He never expected that, shortly after his wife's passing, Eartha would call him late one night out of the blue.
That was when Martin discovered Lizetta was the Madden family's long-lost daughter. It was also the exact moment his alliance with Eartha began.
After all, their goals were perfectly aligned.
If the two hadn't colluded, how could Eartha—sitting miles away in Tranquil Meadows—have known Lizetta's every move with such terrifying precision?
Lizetta's traumatic labor that night had been meticulously orchestrated by Eartha and Martin. Hans Gardenia and Stella had merely been the pawns and weapons they manipulated to execute it.
Eartha wanted Lizetta dead, while Martin wanted Remington to lose the love of his life forever.
This time, as the Porter family consumed the Madden Group, they would share the resulting profits with Martin as agreed.
In no time, the crib was fully set up. Lizetta pointed to the side of her bed and whispered softly.
"Put it right next to the bed so it's easier to keep an eye on him. And lay another blanket down; it feels a bit too firm to me."
Following his wife's instructions, Remington padded the crib, then stood up and headed to the cabinet to find extra bedding.
After he finally finished arranging the small bed, Lizetta touched the baby pillow and frowned.
"Isn't this pillow a bit too high? It feels even thicker than the one I use. It'll definitely be uncomfortable for him. Remington, could you see if there are any other pillows?"
Remington tucked in the corners of the blanket, ensuring there were no drafts and that the baby wouldn't get squished, before looking up.
"I didn't see any others. Let him use this one for now, and I'll have someone buy a couple more."
With that, he leaned over the hospital bed to pick up the sleeping Ron.

Does evil really triumph always above the good in this novel ? How comes Stella's evilness has no end? Does the author believes that by giving justice and importance to bad people like Stella will make this novel interesring? I am starting to lose my patience and ask when will the writer finally will realize that the protagonist is Lizetta and not Stella....
