Shattered Illusions Love Lies and Redemption (Lizetta and Remington) novel Chapter 1160

Remington leaned close to Nelson and lowered his voice. "Mr. Madden, Grandma Bernice looks a bit exhausted. Shall I take her for a walk?"

With the Porter faction neutralized, Nelson had to ruthlessly restructure the board.

Having an outsider like Remington present for internal corporate bloodshed wasn't ideal. And Remington possessed enough self-awareness to know Nelson hadn't fully accepted him as part of the family yet.

Nelson glanced over. Bernice was fidgeting in her chair, clearly restless and pouting slightly.

He looked at Lizetta and Jerome. They obviously couldn't leave.

They were the future of the Madden Group, and they needed to witness this transition of power.

But letting just anyone wander off with his mentally fragile wife was out of the question.

Ironically, Remington was the only person he actually trusted to keep her safe right now.

Nelson narrowed his eyes slightly and gave a brief nod.

"Go ahead."

"Thank you, sir."

A victorious gleam flashed in Remington's eyes. Before turning away, he gave Lizetta's hand a final squeeze, looking at her as if expecting a gold star for good behavior.

Suppressing a smile, Lizetta lightly scratched the center of his palm with her fingernail.

Remington escorted Bernice out of the heavy atmosphere of the boardroom. He kept his tone soft and respectful.

"Where would you like to explore, Grandma?"

Bernice immediately swatted his hand away with a huff. "Stop following me!"

She looked up and down the corridor before marching straight toward Nelson's private chairman's office.

Completely unfazed, Remington arched an eyebrow and strolled casually behind her.

Once inside the massive suite, Bernice immediately began rummaging around the large mahogany desk, pulling open drawers. When she couldn't find what she wanted, her frustration started to mount.

Her mind was currently trapped in a childlike state. Remington stepped forward and crouched beside her.

"Are you looking for the old photo albums?"

She stopped digging and looked at him. "What kind of game?"

"A race to see who can find the photo albums first. If you win, I'll march straight to the airport, fly back to Zion City, and never bother you again. How does that sound?"

Remington extended his pinky finger to seal the promise.

Bernice eyed him skeptically. She let out a haughty huff, but her curiosity won out. Reluctantly, she reached out and hooked her pinky around his.

Just as Remington moved to pull his hand back, she gripped his finger tightly, her expression turning dead serious.

"No, wait! You're young. Your eyes are sharp, and you move fast. This is rigged. You have to give me a head start."

Remington looked at the stubborn old woman and chuckled softly.

"Alright. How much of a head start do you need?"

Bernice pondered for a second. "Give me five minutes... No, ten minutes!"

A triumphant smile finally broke across her face. Ten minutes was more than enough time for her to tear the entire office apart and find those pictures herself.
