Shattered Illusions Love Lies and Redemption (Lizetta and Remington) novel Chapter 1191

“Since the PR storm has already blown up, pulling the articles now would only make us look guilty. Just stick to the original plan.”

Remington had already straightened his clothes. He glanced at the noticeably short suit sleeves and pants, clicking his tongue internally.

He and Jerome were practically the exact same height. Even if Jerome's clothes didn't fit him like a bespoke suit, they shouldn't have been this ridiculously short.

It was obvious Jerome had deliberately dug out a shrunken set for him.

Remington let out a scoffing laugh, picked up his phone, and issued his final order.

“Keep a close eye on the West family.”

He hung up the moment the words left his mouth.

Meanwhile, at the West estate.

Inside the study, Stella and Martin were closely monitoring the online trends.

Martin's expression was grim and somber, while Stella's cheeks were visibly swollen, painted red with the harsh outline of handprints.

She had been collapsed against the cold marble floor in front of the desk for what felt like hours, her forehead beaded with a thick layer of cold sweat.

Ever since returning from the hospital that day, Stella had been in excellent spirits.

She genuinely believed Lizetta had become a vegetable who would never wake up. For the past two nights, she had even dreamt of attending Lizetta's funeral, waking up with a smile on her face.

But who could have predicted that this morning, the news would broadcast live footage of Lizetta arriving in Tranquil Meadows, accompanying Nelson to the Madden Group's shareholder meeting?

He viciously yanked her hair and slammed her head against the nearby wall with brute force.

With a heavy thud, Stella saw stars. She clutched her injured head and slumped weakly against the wall, sliding to the floor.

But Martin wasn't about to let her go. He crouched down and viciously slapped her across the face several times.

“Trash! You useless piece of trash! I didn't bring you back just so you could live in the lap of luxury and play the pampered heiress. I gave you one job—to seduce Remington—and you couldn't even manage that! Fine, whatever. But I asked you to gather intel, and you bring back fake news, swearing up and down that Lizetta was on her deathbed!”

Martin was shaking with absolute fury. The thought of Eartha being hauled away in handcuffs on live television filled him with a suffocating wave of dread.

He raised his hand and slapped Stella twice more. Her ears rang dizzyingly, but she still managed to scramble up, desperately clinging to Martin's leg as she sobbed.

“Dad, Dad, I'm sorry! I was wrong, but I was completely fooled! I had no idea Lizetta was perfectly fine. When I visited her in the hospital, she looked pale as a ghost, lying there completely paralyzed. And Remington—he looked so heartbroken, his eyes bloodshot from crying. I… I didn't expect them to put on such a flawless act. They tricked me! Dad, please give me one more chance, ah!”
