Shattered Illusions Love Lies and Redemption (Lizetta and Remington) novel Chapter 1204

Conrad quickly shook off his daze, replacing it with a look of profound heartbreak.

"Liz, how could you accuse me of something like that? You are my only flesh and blood. No father would ever do that to his only daughter. How could you possibly think I'd swap you with someone else's child?"

Seeing that Lizetta remained completely unfazed, Conrad shifted his target to Nelson.

"Nelson, are you absolutely sure Eartha was the one who swapped Liz? Could there be a mistake..."

Nelson stared at his feigned disbelief, his weathered face set in stony, merciless lines. Deep loathing burned in his eyes.

His voice was a gravelly rasp. "Conrad West, you don't deserve to stand before my daughter's grave. Get out!"

He couldn't stomach the sight of the man, let alone listen to his sickening, hypocritical excuses. Hearing Conrad defend himself only reminded Nelson of how utterly blind he had been to allow his precious daughter to marry such a parasite.

He had ruined Elsa's entire life. If she had married anyone else, she wouldn't have brought a wolf into their home.

At the very least, his granddaughter wouldn't have spent years suffering out in the cold world.

"Nelson, you..." Conrad's eyes reddened with tears.

Nelson cut him off coldly. "Don't ever call me that!"

The older man's chest heaved as he fumed with rage.

Seeing this, Lizetta quickly rubbed Nelson's back to soothe him. "Grandpa, please don't get angry. My mom is watching. If she sees you ruining your health over garbage like this, she won't be at peace."

Remington took a step forward, towering over Conrad.

"You're looking rather worn out, Mr. West. Guilt keeping you awake? In that case, you shouldn't be standing around here. Go home and rest."

Because of Lizetta's overt hostility, the rest of the Madden family—and even Remington—were treating him like a stray dog.

Conrad clenched his fists, his gaze darkening as he glared at Remington.

"And what exactly gives you the right to stand here and speak? As Liz's father, I don't approve of whatever is going on between you two. You have no right to interfere."

Conrad then turned to Lizetta. "Liz, you divorced him for a reason. You need to keep your distance—"

Lizetta didn't even let him finish the sentence. She stepped forward and proudly intertwined her fingers with Remington's.

"I brought my boyfriend here to introduce him to my mother. My grandparents have given us their blessing, so you can save your breath."

Remington was entirely caught off guard by the firm grip of her hand. Watching her step slightly in front of him, defending him as if she were terrified he'd be bullied, made his heart soar.
