Listening to Remington's low, soothing voice, the storm in Lizetta's chest gradually settled.

She nodded against his chest, her voice thick with emotion.

"You're right. He doesn't deserve to be my father, and he never deserved my mother's love!"

Conrad opened his mouth to argue, but Nelson raised a hand, refusing to hear another syllable of his pathetic excuses.

"Leave," Nelson ordered coldly. "And never come back. You aren't welcome here. The police will uncover everything Eartha has done. Let's just hope you truly had no part in it. Watch your back."

With those final words, Nelson severed every last thread of their history together.

Conrad knew that staying would only bring him more humiliation.

With a grim expression, he shot one last desperate look at Lizetta, hoping she might say a single word in his defense.

She didn't even look in his direction.

Conrad clenched his jaw, dropped his head, and turned to leave the terrace for good.

"Clean that up. Don't let it taint your aunt's resting place."

Jerome immediately moved to support the older man, but Nelson waved him off, gesturing toward the grave.

Jerome exchanged a quick look with Lizetta. She hurriedly wiped away the last traces of her tears and stepped up to hook her arms through both of her grandparents'.

"Grandpa, Grandma, let's go sit on the bench over there and rest for a minute."

She pointed down the hill toward the valley. "The view from up here is gorgeous. Is that a scenic park down there?"

Nelson knew perfectly well that his granddaughter was just trying to distract him from the ugly confrontation.

He appreciated the effort and followed her gaze.

"That's no park. That's an industrial zone. The Madden Group's electronics factory is right in the middle of it. Honestly, look at you—you don't even know where your own company's assets are!"

Lizetta stuck her tongue out playfully. "My bad, my bad! But I'm an adult now, you can't just scold me in front of everyone! Besides, isn't that why we have Jerome running the show?"

"You little brat!"
