Ray looked at Remington with adrenaline-fueled excitement. "What are we waiting for? Let's move!"
He was ready to be the first one through the door and beat the scumbags who dared kidnap their young boss into a bloody pulp.
But Remington's voice cut through the tension like ice. "No. We hit the luxury villas first."
"Copy that, I'll lead the—wait, what?"
Ray had already unlatched the car door but froze, whipping his head around to stare at Remington in absolute bewilderment.
"Why?" The captain was equally confused.
Remington's tone was dangerously calm. "They knew this video call was going to happen, which means they deliberately prepared for it. The sleeping pills, the dragging sounds in the background—it's all misdirection. Yes, the shantytown is a chaotic maze, but it's full of long-term residents. There are eyes everywhere. It's not the foolproof hideout you think it is. More importantly, they can't keep a baby drugged around the clock. He's going to wake up and cry. Did you forget the end of the video? They didn't hesitate to drop him to the floor. His screams were deafening. Why risk a massive disturbance like that if they're supposedly terrified of being heard in a crowded slum?"
The contradiction was glaring.
It proved the supposed clues were nothing but a smokescreen.
Ray quickly connected the dots. "You're right!"
"Exactly," Remington continued. "The villa district, on the other hand, is sparsely populated and boasts heavy security. The houses are practically built with hidden basements and wine cellars. Hiding a kidnapped child there is significantly easier. Furthermore, Eartha has never skimped on paying her loyalists. Martha and her family have likely been living in extreme comfort for years. Do you really expect people accustomed to immense luxury to seamlessly blend into a filthy slum without raising suspicion?"
The captain's eyes widened in realization, his gaze turning toward Remington with undisguised admiration.
"If we're sweeping the villas, this just got a lot easier! I'll have my team pull the security feeds, resident logs, and all entry-exit footage for the last few days immediately."
The captain barked the orders into his radio.

Does the author believes that by giving justice and importance to bad people like Stella will make this novel interesring?
