Shattered Illusions Love Lies and Redemption (Lizetta and Remington) novel Chapter 1282

The eldest son's screams grew increasingly agonizing, and Remington refused to yield.

Ultimately, Mei cared about her son's survival. Gritting her teeth, she agreed.

"Fine! Drop all your weapons before you come in! I'll be watching you! If I find a single trick up your sleeve, I'll cripple your son's leg immediately!"

Hearing her shrill voice, Remington felt a fraction of relief and immediately threw his gun aside with outstretched arms.

He took a step forward, prompting a tense Ray to follow. "Mr. Dashiell! You can't go. She's a lunatic!"

Remington glanced back at Ray. They exchanged a silent look, communicating a tacit understanding of their next move.

"Stand down," Remington ordered firmly.

Helpless, Ray backed away. Remington walked toward the villa, shrugging off his suit jacket and raising his hands as he slowly spun in a circle.

Only after confirming he concealed nothing did Mei let him inside.

The moment Remington stepped through the door, the cold muzzle of a gun pressed against his temple.

It was the hitman.

Remington's expression remained neutral as he strolled toward Mei, as casual as if taking a walk in the park rather than having his life threatened.

He stopped a few feet away. "The helicopter will be here soon. Let me see my child."

He reached out toward her, his gaze locked intensely on Joy's tiny face.

Mei lifted the barrel from Joy, aiming it squarely at Remington's chest with a dark scowl.

"No tricks. Go sit over there and behave!"

Remington didn't move, simply arching a brow.

"I'm in your hands now, with two guns pointed at me. What tricks could I possibly pull? I just want to ensure my son is safe. There's no need to be so paranoid."
