Lizetta was forced to surrender to his blazing, ravenous kiss, making her seem like the one who was injured and weak.
His aggressive conquest left her breathless and flushed in no time.
When he finally showed a rare moment of mercy, breaking the kiss to let her breathe, she reminded him between pants.
"Weren't you changing into your gown?"
Remington continued to pepper her lips with kisses. "Yeah. But you have to take these off me first..."
Blushing fiercely, Lizetta let him guide her hand to his shirt, his voice a seductive coax.
"I'll keep kissing, you keep undressing."
Lizetta was speechless.
She was seriously starting to suspect he had faked his gunshot wound.
In stark contrast to their blissful, intimate romance, inside a hospital room over in Tranquil Meadows.
Eartha had been transferred to a regular ward, with plainclothes police officers standing guard at her door.
Eartha was consumed by manic anxiety, sensing that something was terribly wrong.
A full night and an entire morning had passed. Not only had Lizetta and Remington failed to show up, but Jerome and Nelson hadn't returned either.
She had been dumped here, utterly ignored.
It wasn't normal.
Considering how deeply those people cared about that child and how desperate they were to save him, there was no way they would just let her rest peacefully for this long.
They should have been storming her room before dawn, negotiating with her or devising new ways to torture her into submission.
But now, it was far too quiet.
A horrifying sense of dread crept over Eartha.
Crash.
"This is a hospital, so stop screaming! You should be grateful you were even granted medical leave!"
He was just about to turn and leave when the door opened again. The captain in charge of the case walked in, trailed by the officers from the hallway.
"Uncuff her and take her away."
The captain jerked his chin toward Eartha.
Officers immediately stepped forward with keys, unlocking the handcuffs tethering Eartha's wrist to the hospital bed.
Before she could even process what was happening, her hands were wrenched together and freshly cuffed.
She was yanked roughly out of the bed. Her face drained of color.
"What is this? Where are you taking me? I just had a kidney transplant yesterday! I can't be discharged yet! I need my IV drip, let go of me!"
She thrashed wildly, refusing to leave the room. The captain watched her with a sneer of pure disdain, generously offering her an answer.
"Where are we taking you? You're facing a mountain of charges. We're taking you exactly where you belong."

The readers' comments on the novel: Shattered Illusions Love Lies and Redemption (Lizetta and Remington)
Does evil really triumph always above the good in this novel ? How comes Stella's evilness has no end? Does the author believes that by giving justice and importance to bad people like Stella will make this novel interesring? I am starting to lose my patience and ask when will the writer finally will realize that the protagonist is Lizetta and not Stella....
