But she claimed Daddy couldn't bear to wake Candy up and had to leave for urgent business before she opened her eyes.
Candy had believed every word.
At the time, Kimberley's heart was simply breaking for her daughter, and she wanted to give her the courage and strength to get through the surgery.
She assumed little girls were forgetful and easily distracted by new things.
But to her surprise, ever since that day, Candy would ask about her father constantly.
Feeling overwhelmed, Kimberley's mind drifted for a second before she forced a smile at Gia.
"I just haven't met the right guy yet."
Meanwhile.
Leaving the hospital, Jerome sat in the back of his car as the driver headed toward the Madden family villa.
"Mr. Madden, there have been a lot of reporters staking out the villa these past few days. Should we take a detour and enter through the back?"
The driver's question hung in the air, met with absolute silence from the backseat.
Glancing in the rearview mirror, the driver assumed that the exhaustion of searching for Joy and dealing with Eartha Porter Madden had finally caught up to his boss, leaving him fast asleep.
To his surprise, Jerome was wide awake, staring out the window, deeply lost in thought.
The driver was perplexed. The young master Joy had already been found, and Eartha Porter Madden had been dealt with.
The Porter family was entirely ruined, stabilizing the Madden Group's internal turmoil. Ever since the news broke that Remington had made a high-profile return to Tranquil Meadows alongside Miss Madden, the company's stock prices had skyrocketed, surpassing even their pre-crisis levels.
Given the current situation, what could possibly be causing Jerome to frown so deeply?
While the driver puzzled over it, Jerome couldn't quite explain his own unease.
Flashes of his encounter with Kimberley at the hospital played on a loop in his mind. He couldn't shake the feeling that her desperate attempts to avoid him were bizarre and entirely unprovoked.

Does evil really triumph always above the good in this novel ? How comes Stella's evilness has no end? Does the author believes that by giving justice and importance to bad people like Stella will make this novel interesring? I am starting to lose my patience and ask when will the writer finally will realize that the protagonist is Lizetta and not Stella....
