As an outside observer, Lizetta saw right through the act. There was no way Cassius's sudden appearance was a mere coincidence.
But even if he still harbored feelings for Yolanda, his massive ego wouldn't allow him to admit it. Instead, he just threw sarcastic jabs at her, proving his affection was hardly genuine.
She had no desire to see Yolanda tangled up with a jerk like Cassius, and she certainly wasn't going to help him.
She nodded warmly. "Okay. You've seen Joy, and he's doing great. Head back to set and focus on filming. In a few days, I'll bring him over to visit you at work."
Yolanda's eyes lit up. She leaned down to plant another loud kiss on Joy's cheek, slipped on her sunglasses, adjusted her cap, and strutted out.
From start to finish, she didn't spare a single glance at Cassius.
His expression turned grim before he abruptly spoke up.
"I forgot, I left my nephew's gift in the car. I'll go grab it..."
He tried to spin around and chase after her, but Lizetta immediately called out, stopping him in his tracks.
"There's no rush for the gift. So many people have visited Joy over the past two days that we're running out of room for presents. It's actually better you left it in the car; we can just have someone drop it off at the manor later. Didn't you say you drove all night? You must be exhausted. Remi, let Cassius sit down and watch the baby for a bit while I pour him a glass of water."
As Lizetta spoke, she shot a pointed look at Remington.
Cassius immediately fired back a desperate look at Remington, silently begging his friend to cover for him so he could run after Yolanda.
However, without even batting an eyelash, Remington ruthlessly threw his best friend under the bus to appease his wife.
He even gave Cassius a firm shove and said,
"Go sit down. Lizetta is right. The gift can wait."
Pushed forward and pressed down by the shoulders, Cassius was forced to take a seat on the sofa.
Remington scooped Joy up from Lizetta's lap. "Joy, this is Cassius. Say hi to Cassius."
Remington stared intently at his son, determined to see if the little rascal really was out to get him. He wanted to see if the baby would magically say hello just to spite his own father.

Does evil really triumph always above the good in this novel ? How comes Stella's evilness has no end? Does the author believes that by giving justice and importance to bad people like Stella will make this novel interesring? I am starting to lose my patience and ask when will the writer finally will realize that the protagonist is Lizetta and not Stella....
