Lizetta blinked. "The family registry? What's there to discuss? I've already decided. Joy is going straight onto my registry."
The moment Remington brought it up, she knew exactly where this conversation was heading.
Feigning ignorance, she ruthlessly shut down his argument before he could even make it.
Remington's expression remained perfectly unbothered. Keeping his arms around her waist, he nodded with an easy smile.
"That works. Have you thought of a formal legal name for him yet?"
Lizetta froze. She had completely forgotten about that!
While she was pregnant, she had only picked out his nickname, deciding to wait until he was born to choose a proper legal name once she knew the gender.
But then the tragedy had struck. Now, Joy had finally been returned to them.
The past couple of days had been an absolute emotional rollercoaster. She had been so caught up in thanking the heavens for her son's return that she completely forgot he was legally nameless.
Joy was almost ten months old, and he didn't even have a real name. It was completely absurd.
She felt like a terrible mother. He had been back for days, and the thought hadn't crossed her mind once.
She gave Remington a shove. "You're right, Joy still doesn't have a name! Why didn't you remind me sooner?!"
She wanted to finalize his name immediately to erase any ties to his traumatic past, knowing he had been given a name while forced to live with the West family.
The mere thought that he had been officially registered under the West family name made Lizetta sick to her stomach.
The guilt over Joy's disappearance had severely worsened the elderly woman's health over the past year.
Lizetta had noticed her rapid decline the moment she returned.
Fiona had carried just as much devastating guilt as Lizetta. She had blamed herself entirely, convinced that failing to discipline her son, Nathan, and her daughter-in-law, Hanna, had led to the tragedy.
Tina had told Lizetta that the old lady had secretly cried tears of sheer relief several times since Joy's rescue.
Suggesting that Fiona name him was Lizetta's way of silently forgiving her, letting her know she never blamed her for what happened.
But Remington smiled warmly. "Let Nelson do it. As his only granddaughter, you weren't given a name by him, and I'm sure that weighs on his heart. Knowing him, he's probably already brainstormed a dozen names for his only great-grandson. Besides, you just said you wanted Joy on the Madden family registry. It's only fitting that the patriarch of the Madden family names him."

Does evil really triumph always above the good in this novel ? How comes Stella's evilness has no end? Does the author believes that by giving justice and importance to bad people like Stella will make this novel interesring? I am starting to lose my patience and ask when will the writer finally will realize that the protagonist is Lizetta and not Stella....
