Given how fiercely Nelson and Jerome doted on Lizetta, one word from her would resolve everything.
He had been desperately trying to contact her every single day, but his calls wouldn't go through.
She had blocked him on WhatsApp and every other social media platform.
The only reason he was sitting here now was to pry Lizetta's whereabouts out of Jerome.
Her location had been kept strictly confidential.
Conrad guessed she was in Zion City, considering Remington had also left Tranquil Meadows. But when he used his connections in Zion City to track her down, he hit a wall.
She wasn't at the Dashiell estate, and her current location was completely untraceable.
Watching Jerome's face soften into a warm smile as he checked his phone, Conrad immediately deduced that the message had to be from Lizetta.
He stood up, his expression eager. "Jerome, is that Lizetta? Let me say a few words to her, just a few words!"
He looked pleading, his eyes even reddening as he played the part of a pathetic father desperate to reconnect with his estranged daughter.
Jerome, however, saw right through the performance.
A cynical sneer curled Jerome's lips, and he completely ignored the man.
He opened his desk drawer, pulled out a pair of wireless earbuds, put them in, and played Lizetta's voice note.
Hearing her talk about setting him up on blind dates in Zion City brought a mix of amusement and exasperation.
Conrad fell silent instantly, his chest heaving.
"Conrad West, Lizetta hasn't just been back for a day or two. She's been home for over half a year! She has a deeply compassionate heart, just like my late aunt Elsa. Even though we share no blood, she treats me like a true brother, always looking out for me. You are her biological father. If you had shown her even an ounce of genuine care over the past six months, your relationship wouldn't be this shattered."
Conrad's face drained of color, his eyes brimming with fake tears.
"Yes, you're right. I deeply regret it. I was manipulated by Eartha and her daughter. Greed blinded me. I owe Lizetta so much, and I want to make amends. I want to—"
Jerome nodded slowly. "You genuinely want to make amends?"
Conrad's eyes lit up. He immediately raised his hand, striking a solemn pose.
"Absolutely! I swear it!"

Does evil really triumph always above the good in this novel ? How comes Stella's evilness has no end? Does the author believes that by giving justice and importance to bad people like Stella will make this novel interesring? I am starting to lose my patience and ask when will the writer finally will realize that the protagonist is Lizetta and not Stella....
