There was a solid chance they had already made their relationship official, and barging in uninvited felt completely inappropriate.
Reading the conflicted expression on Jerome's face, Lizetta knew exactly what was going through his head. She let out a soft laugh.
"I made that up. There is no guy showing up every day trying to make things official. But if you keep dragging your feet like this, I guarantee you'll regret it for the rest of your life!"
She shot him a meaningful look, then spun around and headed straight for a room at the far end of the corridor.
"Follow me. She's right here on this floor."
Jerome quickened his pace to keep up, though a deep frown of confusion settled on his face.
This entire floor was dedicated strictly to pediatrics. Even if Kimberley was hospitalized, there was absolutely no reason for her to be on this level.
But Lizetta looked so undeniably confident, as if it was impossible for her to be mistaken.
Harboring his doubts, Jerome followed her until they stopped in front of the door. Instead of walking in, Lizetta simply stepped aside.
"This is her room. She should be inside. You go in on your own; I have no intention of playing third wheel."
Lizetta turned to leave, but to her utter disbelief, Jerome hesitated for a split second and actually turned to follow her.
She was rendered entirely speechless. She had never expected a man who was usually so decisive and composed in every aspect of his life to suddenly turn into such a coward.
Lizetta glared at him. "Go inside! Where are you going?"
Feeling completely exasperated by his lack of initiative, she literally reached out and shoved him forward. Realizing she had misunderstood, Jerome quickly threw his hands up in defense.
"I showed up empty-handed! Who visits a patient like this? I should at least go downstairs and buy a bouquet of flowers first."
Lizetta glanced down at his empty hands; she genuinely hadn't noticed that before.

Does evil really triumph always above the good in this novel ? How comes Stella's evilness has no end? Does the author believes that by giving justice and importance to bad people like Stella will make this novel interesring? I am starting to lose my patience and ask when will the writer finally will realize that the protagonist is Lizetta and not Stella....
