Because of that, Kimberley had been insanely, overwhelmingly jealous of Lizetta.
She had fully expected to hate the other woman—after all, no one liked their romantic rival.
Yet, as Lizetta stood in front of her with a warm, beaming smile, all Kimberley felt was genuine kindness. Even the comment about being a fan didn't sound like empty flattery.
Up close, she was absolutely stunning, radiating a pure and untouchable aura.
Kimberley realized that some people were simply blessed with such effortless grace that it was impossible to despise them.
Pushing down the complicated swirl of bitterness in her chest, Kimberley took a small step forward.
"Hello, Ms. Madden."
Lizetta winked at her playfully before suddenly letting out a gasp.
"Someone's coming! We can't let them recognize you. Get inside, Jerome!"
With that, Lizetta gave Jerome a hard shove.
Caught completely off guard, Jerome stumbled forward just as Kimberley had taken a step toward them.
They crashed solidly into each other.
The moment the familiar, intoxicating scent of the man wrapped around her, it hit Kimberley like a potent drug designed specifically to ruin her. Her cheeks instantly flushed scarlet, and her knees went weak.
Given Jerome's imposing height and solid build, the impact sent Kimberley stumbling backward.
Just as she was about to fall, a strong arm snaked around her waist, catching her securely. At the same time, Jerome planted his other hand against the wall, steadying them both.
The air instantly thickened with a suffocating silence.
This was the closest she had been to him in over four years. Her mind went completely blank, the only sound in her ears the frantic, deafening thud of her own heartbeat.
"You two have a good chat, Jerome. I'm out of here, good luck!"
Lizetta's voice drifted in from the hallway right before the heavy door slammed shut, sealing them inside.

Does evil really triumph always above the good in this novel ? How comes Stella's evilness has no end? Does the author believes that by giving justice and importance to bad people like Stella will make this novel interesring? I am starting to lose my patience and ask when will the writer finally will realize that the protagonist is Lizetta and not Stella....
