Looking at Kimberley's innocent eyes, Jerome was terrified he might do something completely irrational the next second. He merely shot her a dark glare, turned around, and pulled open the heavy fire door to step out.

"Let's go. Don't keep our daughter waiting."

Kimberley hurried to follow him, but the man had already let go of the door.

The fire door swung shut right in her face, nearly causing her to smack straight into it.

Rubbing her nose, Kimberley finally realized that Jerome seemed genuinely angry.

Fortunately, he was still waiting for her on the other side.

When Kimberley rushed to the ward's entrance, the man was standing there. He hadn't gone inside without her.

She hurried forward. "Let's go."

She reached out to push the door open, but Jerome didn't move. He just stared at her.

Kimberley gave him a questioning look. Jerome spoke with exasperation.

"Is this how you used to act on screen? Is this what a deeply in love, newly reunited married couple looks like to you?"

Kimberley was speechless.

She blinked before tentatively reaching out and looping her arm through Jerome's.

Jerome glanced down. "Are you walking the red carpet?"

Speechless, Kimberley thought for a second. She slid her hand down, steeled herself, and let her soft little hand actively grab hold of his.

She figured he was the one who asked her to put on a show.

She might be retired from acting, but she was still a professional.

How could she let him look down on her? When she really got into character, even she scared herself.

She just hoped he could keep up.

With that thought, she pushed the ward door open. Taking Jerome's hand, she forced his fingers apart and intertwined them tightly with hers.
