All these gestures of Jerome's made him feel guilty towards her, so he spared no effort in showering her with indulgence and compensation.
Just to give an example, when he returned to Tranquil Meadows, without saying a word, Jerome quietly transferred ownership of over a dozen luxury homes and commercial properties in various parts of the estate to her name. It was pretty telling.
Lizetta had her doubts though. She figured Jerome's feelings towards her might not be genuine love; perhaps he was just too caught up to see things clearly.
After expressing her thoughts, she noticed Jerome standing there, slightly dazed and lost in thought. She pursed her lips and quietly walked away.
She headed upstairs and returned to her room.
Closing the door behind her, Lizetta was about to turn towards the bathroom when she unexpectedly bumped into something solid yet slightly springy.
It was familiar—a man's chest.
"Ah!" she gasped, startled, and looked up, still shaken. Sure enough, there he was, seemingly appearing out of thin air.
Remington stood before her.
Regaining her composure, Lizetta snapped at him playfully, "Have you had enough of being human? Planning to be a ghost now?"
He had this knack for showing up unannounced, and it was a good thing her heart could handle it, or he might've given her a scare-induced ailment.
Remington, however, was looking rather brooding, his gaze fixed on the door behind her.
"Don’t you ever lock your door when you sleep?"
Lizetta was puzzled, "?"
She was in her own house; why would she need to lock the door?
Besides, it wasn’t like he used the door to come in, right?
He had climbed in through the window, and with the rain outside, his muddy footprints on the pristine floor made Lizetta frown.
Seeing her silence, Remington leaned in and fiddled with the door lock, securing it for her. "It's safer to lock the door."
Lizetta chuckled; it was just her and Jerome in the house. It was obvious who the lock would be for.

Does evil really triumph always above the good in this novel ? How comes Stella's evilness has no end? Does the author believes that by giving justice and importance to bad people like Stella will make this novel interesring? I am starting to lose my patience and ask when will the writer finally will realize that the protagonist is Lizetta and not Stella....
