Natalia’s face went pale. She tried to defend herself in a small, shaky voice.

“This is a setup! Someone’s trying to ruin me! The child is yours!”

She paused, then clutched Dante’s arm and pleaded: “Don’t trust these reports–someone’s trying to set me up! Yeah, this

is a setup!”

Dante shoved her hand away in disgust and pulled out his phone to call the pack doctor. The same doctor who had once

examined him and Evelyn.

On the other end, the doctor hesitated for a few seconds after hearing Dante’s voice.

“Dante… when the test results came out back then, Luna begged me to keep your infertility a secret.”

“She said it concerned your dignity and your future as Alpha. If news got out that you couldn’t father children, it might

undermine your authority in the pack. So she asked me to change the report and list herself as the one who couldn’t

conceive.”

There was a pause. Then the doctor added softly: “Luna really loved you.”

His words stabbed Dante like a thousand tiny needles. Each one pierced his heart, leaving him breathless with pain.

He suddenly remembered Felicity’s strange remarks the other day and everything began to make sense.

Dante broke down laughing, hysterically, almost madly.

So Evelyn had loved him that deeply. Loved him enough to sacrifice her pride and shoulder his burden, just to protect

him.

To preserve his dignity.

To shield him from the humiliation of being infertile.

And how had he repaid that love?

By driving her away. By treating her like a burden.

He clutched the report tightly, then collapsed into tears–loud, wrenching sobs that shook his entire body.

Natalia watched his deranged and broken state from across the room. Sensing an opportunity, she slowly stood up,

trying to slip away.

But she had barely taken two steps when Dante grabbed her.

He seized her by the hair and slammed her head violently against the wall.

His voice was hoarse and menacing like a demon risen from hell.

“Natalia Locke… You think screwing with me is fun?”

Chapter 20

“If you hadn’t seduced me… if you hadn’t stopped me from going to Crisantia to find Evelyn… she would still be alive!”

Tell me, should I end your life right now? Or should I send you to hell to beg Evelyn for forgiveness?”

With each sentence, he smashed her head against the wall again.

By the time Natalia looked up, her forehead was split open, blood running down her face in gruesome rivers.

Then, out of nowhere, she mustered all her strength and shoved Dante away.

She screamed, her voice shrill and furious: “If it weren’t for your sterility, do you think I would’ve gone to Rowan?!”

“Does it even matter if the child is yours or not? Aren’t we happy like this?”

“What was so great about Evelyn anyway? If she wanted to go to Crisantia, fine! But why make such a scene? Everyone

knew she just wanted to ruin me! ”

“She deserved to die! If you ask me, Rowan didn’t act fast enough!”
