Katherine swallowed hard, her heart pounding so fast it seemed to reach her throat.

Dominic was just as nervous. In a barely audible voice, he said, “Come over first… I have something… to tell you…” Katherine knew exactly what his “something” meant.

What had happened outside earlier had already left her flustered, and certain images flashed through her mind. Her rosy lips parted slightly. “O–Okay…”

She had not even finished the word.

“Mmph…” Isabella suddenly stirred and sat up groggily.

Dominic immediately shut his eyes and pretended to be asleep.

A moment later, Isabella got up, walked over to him, adjusted his blanket, then leaned down and kissed the corner of his lips before smiling with quiet satisfaction.

She lingered, watching him for a while, before finally returning to her small bed, completely content.

Dominic felt like crying, though no tears came. ‘Such a perfect opportunity, ruined by Isabella waking at the worst possible moment.‘

Katherine gently patted her chest, still shaken. Luckily, she had not done as he asked. If she had, and Isabella had caught them, it would have been a complete disaster.

Neither of them spoke again.

Before long, they both fell asleep.

The next morning, Dominic woke and was about to sit up when he suddenly froze.

Through narrowed eyes, he saw Isabella and Katherine huddled together, acting suspiciously, as if they were hiding something.

“Should we reply or not?” Katherine asked.

Isabella thought for a moment, then said decisively, “Reply.”

Dominic frowned in confusion. ‘Reply to what? Reply where?‘

The next second, his phone rang, and his expression changed. If he was not mistaken, that was the ringtone of the little psycho.

Moments later, the call connected.

“Dominic!” Jessica’s cheerful voice rang out.

Isabella and Katherine exchanged a glance.

Isabella cleared her throat and said coldly, “Why are you calling my husband?”

Jessica paused, then snapped angrily, “Why is it you again, ex–wife?”

Isabella sneered, “That’s a strange question. My husband’s phone is in my hand. What’s unusual about that?”

“He’s still sleeping,” Isabella said with a light laugh.

Jessica went still. Her voice trembled slightly. “Sleeping? What did you two do last night?”

Isabella replied, “We’re husband and wife. What do you think we did last night? Hehe.”

Jessica fell silent.

A few seconds later, she let out a mocking laugh. “If it were someone else, I might believe it. But you?”

“What’s that supposed to mean?” Isabella demanded.

Jessica replied slowly, “Some people are just ridiculously confident. Do you really believe that even if you stripped naked and lay in front of Dominic, he still wouldn’t touch you?”

“You!” Isabella was instantly shaken.

After all, what Jessica had said was almost entirely true. If Dominic had not been drunk that night, and if he had not mistaken her for Katherine, he would never have touched her.
