(Mason)
Dinner is at a long wooden table with eight people and one dog that’s decided I have the safest pair of legs in the room.
Which as everyone knows, is a great honor, and I am the chosen one.
The food is fine.
Nobody is ever going to be coming here because they couldn’t get enough quinoa and chickpea salad.
It’s edible and good for me, I’m okay with that given the other perks.
Chloe is sitting across the table from me, having a conversation with a woman named Linda about whether crystals work.
Chloe's position is yes, with caveats.
They must be naturally occurring and not grown. And harvested at the full moon by virgins in muslin dresses or something.
I’m not really listening, I’m too busy watching her.
I watch her for most of dinner.
She's in a short, swingy dress, those long, tan legs shamelessly seducing me.
Hair up off her neck because Sage cooks with a wood fire and it gets warm and stuffy in the hut.
She laughs at something Linda says and the dog under the table thumps its tail once against my boot.
I’m having a good time at this retreat.
I still find most of the mysticism a bit ridiculous, but I’m willing to admit the sound bath was good.
And being here, away from the office and all my responsibilities, is probably not hurting.
These past weeks have been a lot.
Keeping on top of Warren Global while not losing touch with what’s happening at Stein M&A was tough enough.
Then Natasha got kidnapped on top of all of that.
Some peace and quiet may have been exactly what I needed.
After dinner people drift.
Chloe finds me on the porch, takes my hand, and walks me back to our cabin in the dark.
She opens the door and stands in the doorway, leaving the lamp unlit as she pulls her dress over her head and drops it to the floor.
"Come here."
Not an invitation I’m about to pass up.
She kisses me with her hand on my jaw. Slow at first.
She tastes like raspberry tea and the orange-scented stuff she puts on her lips.
I get the door closed behind me without breaking our lip-lock.
Her hands are tearing at my belt.
Mine are in her hair, pulling out the elastic.
I groan against her mouth when it tumbles down all at once, like silk across my fingers.
She smiles into the kiss and pulls me closer.
I’ve been a polite man in Chloe’s bed in the time we’ve been seeing each other.
A considerate lover. Careful not to push too hard too fast.
The version of me I'd bring to a board meeting if a board meeting required taking my clothes off.
There’s no sign of that man tonight.
I’m ravenous and ready. No more negotiating, it’s time to close the deal properly.
Her bra is very Chloe.
Silk, ridiculously ornate, very small.
I manage to slip a hand into the half-cup and her nipple hardens against my palm immediately.
She gasps sharply.
I get the bra off in a rush, once I figure out it clasps in the front.
Her breasts are heavy and warm and I get my mouth on one the moment they’re free.
