She Was Never Just the Wife novel Chapter 82

Chapter 82 Elliott’s First Time

Elliott felt his chest tighten, a wave of pentup anger rushing straight to his head.

He’d never met a woman like her, so calm, so razorsharp, brushing off what he saw as a unique, almost destined bond and reducing it to nothing more than two people who got what they needed and handled the situation.

She shot back at him, with that medical precision in her voice, asking if he treated every woman this way.

His pride in his selfcontrol and ability to command any situation crumbled in front of her. Elliott was so furious he couldn’t find the words to fight back, a restless fire burning inside his chest, leaving his throat parched.

Watching him struggle for words, his face flickering with emotion, Celia felt no satisfaction, a tired sense of absurdity. She had no interest in getting caught up in these pointless feelings, so she shook the file bag again for emphasis.

If there’s nothing else, Mr. Perry, please leave. Thanks again for the file, she said.

Her words were a clear dismissal, her tone leaving no room for argument.

Elliott locked his gaze on her, his deep eyes churning with a storm of emotions, anger, disbelief, frustration, and a sharp, aching pain he couldn’t name.

In the end, all those feelings came out in a low growl squeezed through his teeth.

Celia, you’ve got some nerve!he growled.

Elliott spun around, not sparing her another glance, and strode toward the door. His back was still straight, but every step radiated barely contained anger.

Just as his hand gripped the doorknob, he paused, not turning back, his voice rough and low, but every word cut through the air to her.

You can do whatever you want with your virtue. That’s your business. But my first time? That’s not something you can brush off like it never happened. You’d better remember that,he growled.

With that, he yanked the door open and vanished into the darkness of the hallway. The door slammed shut with a bang, making the paintings on the wall tremble.

The room fell silent again.

Celia stood there, still clutching the file bag, her calm finally cracking. Her eyes widened as she stared at the closed door, as if she couldn’t quite wrap her head around Elliott’s last words.

Celia wondered, Wait, what did he Successfully unlocked!

His first time?

For once, Celia, the doctor, always so unflappable, was completely thrown.

Outside the room, the heavy wooden door slammed shut with a thunderous bang, the sound reverberating through the empty hallway.

Even the guard posted at the far end shot a wary glance in that direction, alert for trouble.

Elliott stood outside the door, his chest heaving with emotion. He shut his eyes, trying to rein in the fury threatening to explode from his chest and that strange, chaotic storm of fire and ice swirling inside him, something he’d never felt before.

Mr. Perry?Lucas, who’d been waiting not far down the hall, nearly melting into the shadows, was jolted by the loud bang of the door and the almost tangible pressure coming off Elliott. He immediately hurried over.

Lucas had followed Elliott for ten years, through countless nailbiting business wars, crises, and behindthescenes power plays. He’d seen Elliott furious, icy, and always in command, but never like this.

Right now, Elliott was like a volcano pushed to its absolute limit, quaking inside, every breath radiating heat.

His whole body engulfed in a mix of overwhelming fury, defeat, and a kind of wounded pride that felt almost childlike, emotions Lucas had never seen in him before and couldn’t quite grasp.

Lucas’s heart dropped, and he instinctively shot a glance at the tightly closed door.

He thought, ‘Ms. Ross is inside. Only she can push the boss this far. With the file bag Mr. Perry brought in and the recent mess with the Lucero family, is it some kind of business dispute?

But what kind of business could make the alwayscalm Mr. Perry this furious?

Lucas hesitated, picking his words with extra care and lowering his voice, Mr. Perry, are you okay? Did something happen with Ms. Ross?

Shut up!Elliott snapped.

Elliott snapped his eyes open and turned to Lucas, his gaze sharp as a blade, still simmering with anger and a raw irritation as if Lucas had poked at a nerve he shouldnt have.

Lucas immediately clammed up, swallowing the rest of his question.

Right now,Elliott said, each word forced through gritted teeth, his voice rough and icy, I don’t want to hear the word Rossfrom anyone. Got it?

Lucas broke out in a cold sweat and quickly lowered his head. Yes, Mr. Perry.

Damn, the boss’s reactionthis is definitely way more than some business conflict, Lucas thought, stunned.

Elliott didn’t spare him another glance. He spun around and strode off toward the private elevator at the end of the hall, his long legs eating up the distance.

His steps were fast and heavy, like he was trying to stomp out all that pentup rage with every stride. Lucas hurried after him, keeping a respectful distance, barely daring

to breathe.

After a few steps, Elliott suddenly stopped, not bothering to turn around. His voice was thick with barely contained frustration, coming out through gritted teeth, half

muttering to himself, half venting at Lucas.

That heartless womancoldbloodedheart of stonehe growled.

Lucas was left speechless.

Now he was sure this had nothing to do with business or security. Wait, is thisrelationship drama?Lucas thought, stunned.

Elliott seemed to realize he was losing control and cut himself off before he could say something more out of character.

He took a deep breath, and when he spoke again, his voice had regained some of its usual cold edge, but the frustration and tension were still obvious.

Let’s go to the bar. I want the strongest drink you’ve got. Right now,he snapped.

Lucas felt a chill run down his spine and immediately replied, Yes, I’ll arrange it right away.

He knew there was a hidden cigar and whiskey bar inside the safe house, reserved only for a handful of VIPs. This was the perfect place for Elliott right now.

As he quickly made arrangements over the internal comms, he hurried to keep up with Elliott’s increasingly urgent pace.

His mind was racing with shock and worry like never before. The boss is acting like the world’s about to end, Lucas thought, his heart pounding.

Inside Room 301, the air still vibrated with the aftershock of that deafening door slam,
