Kaden forced down his anger and gave William a few curt instructions.
William nodded, bowed slightly, and quickly left the room.
“Lock her up and have the doctor give her a thorough check-up. Make sure there’s nothing wrong with her.”
“Yes, sir!”
A couple of bodyguards roughly grabbed Shana and dragged her away to be locked up.
Shana was still in a daze.
She’d just heard Kaden say something about a doctor checking her for “problems.”
Problems?
What kind of problems?
She wasn’t pregnant—so what was there to check?
Did they think she’d been taking drugs?
Were they trying to see if she’d done something with Hector?
And what did any of this have to do with his death?
Shana’s head throbbed and every inch of her body ached. She slumped against the wall and drifted into a restless sleep.
Meanwhile, things weren’t much better for Celine.
She’d been withdrawn and sullen ever since coming home from school.
When she’d first heard the news about Hector, her immediate reaction was disbelief.
It had to be a rumor.
Someone had to be making things up.
With Hector’s background and family, how could he possibly be dead?
He was young, healthy, and nobody would dare lay a hand on him.
So the rumors couldn’t be true.
But when she couldn’t get hold of Shana, she started to worry.
She grabbed her phone and scrolled through the news about Hector’s death.
There were several videos—official statements from Veridia’s authorities.
That confirmed it. Hector really was dead. This wasn’t just gossip.
