Side Chick Era Over (Sharon and Carter) novel Chapter 1017

Chapter 1017

Kenneth’s secretary continued, “It seems Miss McKinzie’s friend forgot to turn off the livestream. After she returned to the Kalen residence, everything she said with the Kalen family was broadcast live.”

Kenneth arched a brow.

“Forgot to turn it off?” A faint, knowing smile tugged at his lips.

He had met Sharon before. He knew perfectly well-she wasn’t the type to *forget* something like that.

‘So,’ he thought, ‘she’s been pushed too far. That’s why she chose this way-to expose them.’

Still, the Kalen family’s greed was truly unsightly. They hadn’t welcomed Sharon home out of love, but because they coveted the original shares in her hands.

Thinking of this, Kenneth asked, “Where’s John?”

The secretary replied, “He is currently in a meeting.”

“Tell them to pause the meeting,” Kenneth said mildly. “Have him come here at once.”

The secretary hesitated, surprise flickering in her eyes.

Was this gossip really that important? Important enough to interrupt a meeting?

But despite her confusion, she nodded and left.

Moments later, John strode into the room. “Dad, you wanted to see me?”

Kenneth pointed toward the steam. “Listen to this.”

By now, the argument among the Kalen family had ended, and the recording Thomas had played was running on the screen.

John immediately recognized Sharon’s voice. His eyes darkened. “It’s Sharon!”

Kenneth gestured for silence. “Keep listening.”

Victoria had her family and a crowd of admirers.

But Sharon? She had no one.

Kenneth studied John. “With your current influence, going against someone like Jamie-a man who controls an entire household-is still beyond your reach. Especially with the Kalen family muddying the waters.”

He paused, then added, “And remember, the Kalens aren’t just Richard and his three sons. There’s also that illegitimate daughter, Victoria. For the girl, the odds are stacked steeply.”

“Carter and Xavier can lend Sharon some support,” he went on, a faint irony curving his lips, “but… do you know why Richard was so desperate to acknowledge Sharon as his daughter?”

John frowned. “For her shares?”

“That’s part of it,” Kenneth said. “But the real reason is simpler-and far more cunning.

“Richard’s been stuck in Zachemaine all this time. There, he’s under Carter and Xavier’s thumb. He can’t move freely. But in Marcentine, it’s different. That’s his territory. Once he brings Sharon back, he can sever the few lifelines she has-cut off her allies, isolate her completely.”

He leaned back, eyes gleaming with quiet insight. “John, you must understand-no family head, not even Richard, can pull off such things alone. He’ll need allies. And that means there’s still room for us to act.”
