Scott didn't agree immediately.

He stared at the photo on Wren's screen, gripping his cane so fiercely his knuckles turned white.

Up on stage, the host was still speaking.

"Next, please welcome the chairman of The Southside Medical Foundation, Mr. Scott Clarke, to deliver his address."

Applause roared through the room.

Scott didn't move an inch.

A staff member nervously leaned in. "Mr. Clarke, it's time for you to go on stage."

Scott acted as if he hadn't heard a word.

His eyes remained locked on the inscription.

Project Morning Star Phase I. Equipment testing finalized.

Wren didn't rush him.

She knew this wasn't just a nostalgic piece of history.

When a name buried for decades was finally dragged out into the light, she wouldn't be the only one to bleed for it.

It took an eternity before Scott finally looked up at her.

"Where did you get this?"

"Someone lured me to The Records Room," Wren explained. "I didn't take the original document, I only snapped a photo."

A flicker of realization crossed Scott's eyes.

He glanced at the murmuring crowd in the banquet hall.

The anonymous smear post was already spreading like wildfire.

People were pretending to check their phones or making fake small talk with their neighbors, but their eyes constantly darted in Wren's direction.

Wren stood bathed in the spotlight.

Refusing to hide, refusing to explain herself.

It violently reminded Scott of Vivian Vance.

So many years ago, Vivian had stood in a conference room just like this.

Quentin Whitaker had sat beside her, the Langford family seated directly across from them. Everyone in the room was pressuring her to bypass the system authorization protocols, claiming the charity project couldn't wait, the patients were out of time, and Langford Medical would compensate her generously.

After listening to their excuses, Vivian had asked a single question: "Do the patients know the equipment is still experimental?"

The conference room had gone dead silent that day.

A silence eerily similar to the one blanketing the gala tonight.

Scott snapped out of his memory and handed the phone back to Wren.

"I won't authorize this for the main screen."
