"Sis!"
"Diamond!"
"Ruby!"
The Perry sisters beamed at their acquaintances the moment they saw them.
Ruby was the most relieved. Although she wasn’t as nervous as before, meeting people she knew made her feel much more at ease than talking to those enthusiastic ladies.
"Clarissa!" Ruby’s gaze landed on Clarissa first while pretending as if she wasn’t seeing Sean and Waylon, who came with her.
Clarissa beamed at Ruby and cheerfully approached her while taking a closer look at Diamond, who was beaming at the others.
"Selena, it’s been a while!" Diamond greeted one of her first friends and fans with a smile, as she sized up the other.
Selena, being an author, spent most of her time cooped up inside the house. She barely goes out, but she was active in their chats.
"Hehe, Sis, it’s good to see you. You look beautiful!" Selena complimented sincerely; her gaze fixated on Diamond.
"And so do you!" Diamond was never stingy with praise.
Selena grinned foolishly as she stood next to Diamond, giving others time to chat with Diamond.
"Raize, it’s been a while!"
"It’s good seeing you again. You are a busy woman!"
"Haha, and so, are you? How is everything?"
Diamond would chat briefly with everyone she knew, and before she knew it, she was speaking to Waylon.
"You look handsome!" and her shamelessness got over her in public, but that only melted the young man’s heart.
"You look beautiful as well," he could only shyly respond, making certain people who were watching their interaction have different thoughts.
Ruby was occupied with her own group of friends, and Sean was part of them. Her friends already knew Sean, so it was much easier for them to chat.
While chatting, Cynthia couldn’t help but ask nudge Ruby and asked, "how did Waylon know your sister?" she just couldn’t connect the dots at all, but Ruby simply brushed her off with a vague answer before focusing on other things.
While the Perry sisters were enjoying socializing, just like other guests, the man of the moment finally made his appearance.
With the chairman in the hall, everyone took their respective seats, and the banquet officially started.
-----
Chairman Mainley was in a better mood after learning of the sheer number of guests who had come. Although the Uvedale family didn’t give him face, other families still came, which soothed his heart.
Moreover, Diamond had also come. As a man with ambitions, the appearance of the young lass was truly giving him face.
Seeing how well she was acquainted and seemed to draw children from different families, unlike his other children, the old man’s thoughts deepened, and only he alone knew what he was thinking.
After that painting was given, more gifts were given, and finally, it was Tiana’s moment.
Diamond straightened her back, wondering what Tiana had to give to her grandfather. There was some anticipation there.
"Grandfather, your granddaughter knows that you don’t lack much. Please accept my gift," she humbly said as she passed to the old man a very small box.
"Oh, my!"
"Isn’t that too small?"
Some of the guests gasped in shock upon seeing that. Even Diamond wasn’t expecting to see Tiana making such a move. Just how confident was she to give the old man such a small box?
She should be doing that for a reason, right?
Diamond didn’t want to suspect her friend. Tiana was clever, and she would never do anything that would embarrass either herself or the old man.
The old man wasn’t happy to be honest when he received the gift. Even the family’s illegitimate children had given bigger gifts. So why was this granddaughter he felt very proud of playing games?
Nonetheless, he couldn’t show dissatisfaction but accepted the gift. As for opening it, wouldn’t he embarrass himself if he found something worse in there?
However, just because he didn’t want to see it didn’t mean that others thought the same.
In rich families like them, the competition was fierce, and what better way or day to cause trouble?
"Hehe, sister Tiana, I didn’t expect that your filial piety would be so ...." Suddenly, a young lady with delicate features from the guests opened her mouth and started speaking, attracting everyone’s attention. "You can’t be stingy with gifts, right?" disappointment written all over her face.
