"Oh! That kind of makes sense. If we approach Diamond, then it might seem like we are riding on her coattails. Besides, she hasn’t even exposed the fact that she is our company’s shareholder. If we just manipulate that, we might end up offending her," Alex added, finding his aunt’s reasoning on point.
The aunt was pleased to see the heir aiding her like that. She even added, "My woman’s intuition is telling me that those sisters have something to do with the Elsher and Dawkers family."
"Oh, Aunt, why do you say so?" Alex’s curiosity was piqued as he looked at her, wondering how she even thought of that.
The aunt looked at her worrisome nephew with stress, wondering to herself when he would be enlightened to see other things other than work.
Anyone with good eyesight could tell how those children of those families had been eyeing the sisters as if they were looking at their lovers. Not only that, she even caught some subtle eye communication, especially between Diamond and Waylon.
She would be a retard if there was nothing happening between them.
Thinking about those two, she couldn’t help but cast a brief glance at the Elsher’s table and happen to catch Waylon stealing another peek at Diamond, who was busy chatting with a smile with Tiana.
-----
At Waylon’s table, there was his grandfather, mother, uncle, and a few cousins. Not everyone came to attend the party, but their numbers were enough to give the Mainley’s old man face.
"What do you think Diamond gave the old man?" One of his uncles was very interested in that.
"Not sure, but it should be something very rare and expensive. Lon, what do you think?"
Waylon, who was busy thinking about Diamond. Being able to see her but not being able to talk made him feel slighted. He was itching to see her and talk to her.
When he was called, he was in a daze, and his mother, Valerie, tapped his hand, and he jolted out of his reverie.
"Uncle, what are you saying?" he embarrassingly asked, since he wasn’t sure what they were talking about.
Seeing him distracted, the uncle chuckled helplessly but still repeated the question.
He was dumbfounded when he heard the question and was thinking about what to respond, since he was clueless, his mother suddenly nudged him and said, "son, how about you ask?" blinking her eyes cutely at him that he was swooned.
His mother was truly ..... she was good at manipulating.
"You ...."
"Come on! I heard from this other friend of mine from Amber City that Diamond is a middle agent for this alchemist. Son, help us, neh!"
Upon hearing that, Waylon couldn’t refuse but promised his mother.
"Fine, I will ask her," he acquiesced.
After all, getting his mother on board and letting her help him support his relationship with Diamond would require some benefits.
A few family members knew about his feelings for Diamond and the relationship between them. And one of those people was his mother and then his aunt, who was the director at the hospital.
As long as he receives support, he won’t have to worry much about being one of Diamond’s lovers.
However, Chairman Elsher couldn’t grasp what the mother and son were talking about. So, he asked, "Does Waylon know her?" curious about when they had befriended each other.
Valerie chuckled as she looked at her father-in-law and answered, "Yes. They are friends and talk to each other," not bothering to hide that part.
Diamond chuckled heartily when she heard that. Her eyes turned into crescents as she looked at the now vigorous old man.
"Hehe, you are my grandpa. Since you see me as your granddaughter, I am just showing some filial piety. Don’t overthink it."
Hearing the sincerity in her voice and knowing that she wasn’t fooling him, Chairman Mainley liked her even more.
"That’s good, and since you take me as your grandpa, then take this as a small gift from me. Don’t refuse it!" he said sternly as he looked at her.
Diamond wasn’t expecting anything in return to be honest. After all, part of her scheme had already succeeded.
By gifting the old man the wine, which she wanted to promote and successfully got many orders during dinner, she had already made an impact.
As for the pill, she wasn’t a fool. Of course, she gave it to him purposefully, although she didn’t expect anything in return.
Getting the old man in her good books and letting him know what she can take out will make this old man wary of her.
He will not make things difficult for her in the future but do his best to befriend her.
With how things were going in her business empire. She might find herself encroaching on their interests. When the time comes, she simply hopes that instead of fighting her, they will work together with her harmoniously.
She was merely building a foundation.
As for how expensive the pill was. That was nothing. She still has more with her after giving some to Chief Raya.
She wasn’t an alchemist for nothing.
