Ruby laughed mockingly as she looked at Mary.
It was now clear that when Mary was helping, she was gloating inwardly and reveling in her poor status. She wasn’t helping because she had to but to demean her and uplift herself. How can a person have such a dark heart?
When the spectators heard that, they couldn’t help but look at the friends closely.
Unfortunately, none of them recognized Ruby at all. So, they could only try to piece the puzzles together.
"I .... You ...." Mary tried to retort but her tongue felt tied, she could only watch as her other friends looked at her with disappointed gazes.
She didn’t like that at all.
She wanted to stop Ruby from speaking further but Ruby wasn’t having it at all.
"Just because I had some money, I never looked down on anyone. How did I even have time to do so when I just returned but you are making it look as if I am using my authority to down on you. Mary, I am truly disappointed in you!" she shook her head as she looked disappointedly at Mary.
Upon hearing that, all the words that Mary couldn’t say seem to flow on her tongue as she berated Ruby with reddened eyes.
"Huh, grateful! Can you touch your heart and say that wholeheartedly? All these months, what have you done to show that you are grateful? I _" however, she was unfortunately cut off by the friend who was holding her, Linda.
"Mary, you better watch your words. I think that it’s good if we cancel this meetup. You should go home and ponder over your words!" Linda was feeling disturbed by what she heard.
After analyzing a few scenarios, she looked at Mary with a disappointed gaze. She didn’t like where her thoughts were going.
She was truly afraid of confronting Mary in public. No matter what, they have been friends for years. It was better to deal with this matter in private.
Mary glared at Linda before looking at Ruby and shamelessly said, "Since you think that I am dark-hearted, then let’s end our friendship here!" before shrugging away from Linda and marching away.
Ruby dumbfoundedly stood there, watching as Mary left after breaking off the friendship as if she deserved it. However, she didn’t feel pain at the friendship ending.
She felt somewhat relieved. She couldn’t help but remember when Diamond told her to make quality friends and not many friends.
She must have meant this. If all friends were like this, then what would she do?
The other three friends embarrassed by what had just happened, looked at Ruby and said apologetically.
"How about we meet another day?"
It was impossible to continue with all the mess.
Ruby wasn’t in the mood to pretend as well. she readily agreed with a forced smile.
"Um, let’s talk on the phone, then," as for meeting, who knows?
Seeing that she had agreed, the other three felt relieved before rushing towards Mary. They couldn’t let Mary go alone.
Ruby could only watch them leave with a heavy heart.
Even when Mary was in the wrong, her friends still chose her. She felt somewhat upset.
