Since You Chose Your 'Bro' I Married Your Brother novel Chapter 2

Chapter 2

"Fiona, how'd you even know we were here?"

Daniel was already in a shit mood. Seeing me walk in just made his face go even darker.

"What do you do all day besides stalk me?"

That's when it hit me—Daniel and his crew were having some kind of party here.

And with that one question, Lucy just made it look like I'd been hunting them down like some psycho.

"Danny, I'm sure Fiona came to say she's sorry. She knows she messed up. Cut her some slack."

When Lucy reached for my arm, I practically jumped back.

"I'm not here for him."

Nobody believed me.

I mean, I got it—I'd done this kind of desperate shit before. Old habits die hard, right?

The whole floor was reserved just for their group.

I scanned the room—Crane wasn't even here.

I checked my phone and finally saw his text from hours ago saying he had some emergency board meeting and I should skip it.

"Danny, don't be like this. You know if Fiona leaves now, you'll just sulk about it later."

"Get your hands off me!"

Lucy grabbed my arm and yanked hard. I shook her off.

"Fiona, don't be like that—ow!"

CRASH.

Lucy stumbled back and slammed into the corner of a table.

I shrugged and started walking.

Daniel grabbed my wrist and hauled me back hard enough that I had to catch myself on the table.

"Apologize."

I ripped my arm away.

He was done playing games. I'd pushed him too far, too many times.

"I'm not gonna say it again."

"Ha. She's NOT WORTH an apology from me. But if she wants to get on her knees and beg me for forgiveness? I'll think about it."

"You little—"

His buddies jumped in fast, pulling Daniel back before he could do something.

"Whoa, whoa, come on. We're all cool here. Let's not blow this up."

Lucy looked confused.

Why were these men suddenly taking my side? That had literally never happened before.

"Cool? We're not 'all cool.' I haven't even married her yet! And unless she apologizes to Lucy, there's no wedding. EVER!"

Lucy was baffled.

What the hell happened while they were gone?

But no matter how much she pressed, guys just mumbled vague bullshit and changed the subject.

...

Daniel kept waiting for my apology.

I forgot he existed.

Still, I wasn't about to let personal drama mess with my career.

Even though he was back, I showed up to work like normal.

I'd busted my ass helping build this company—no way was I walking away from that.

"Director Miller, um... do you know where your new desk is?"

"My what?"

I frowned as she pointed toward the most isolated, depressing corner of the entire office.

She shook her head like she had no clue why either.

I walked straight to my office and shoved the door open.

Lucy was inside, directing a bunch of people to trash my stuff.

"Get the fuck out of my office!"
