Chapter 3
Chapter 3
[Princess, whatever you want, we deliver. But bikes for real? This some new aesthetic or?]
[Bro why you asking so many questions? Sloane said bikes, we’re biking.]
[Bet, heading out now. Won’t be late.]
Only my childhood best friend Dylan slides into my DMs:
[Who are you marrying? Ethan Matthews? That scrub?]
Boy’s clearly been stalking my socials these past two years.
I text back: [Bike over here and propose, I’ll ditch this loser for you.]
I toss my phone and start tearing this ridiculous wedding dress train off.
Ethan “picked” this dress-yeah right, Aria did.
When it showed up, I was like, “Um, but this isn’t the short one I wanted.”
Ethan goes:
“Aria handpicked this just for you. She knows what works.
Trust the professional-she’s literally a fashion designer. You’ve never worn couture before so you wouldn’t get it. Just listen to Aria.”
Aria’s all fake-sweet:
“Sloane honey, you don’t really know our crowd’s vibe yet. It’s totally different from your scene. You’ll learn. This one’s so you.”
So me? Bitch deliberately picked the most unflattering thing possible.
And conveniently delivered it yesterday so I couldn’t return it.
She just wanted me looking busted.
I met Ethan at Sterling Corp when he thought I was some random employee.
It was bring your family day, so no suits required. I’d biked over to grab snacks for my coworkers’ kids.
My Citi Bike scraped his car at the entrance. Dude was immediately whipped, chasing me hard, claiming he didn’t care if I was broke-he just wanted me.
Thing is, I was in the middle of this bet with Dad. He thought I was too spoiled, so I had to go undercover at Sterling Corp for two years, starting from the absolute bottom.
If I could survive without rage quitting or getting fired, I’d inherit the company.
But I had to do it completely solo-no calling rich friends for favors, no family connections.
Just me, my pathetic salary, a shoebox apartment, and my trusty Citi Bike, grinding it out with the normies..

Chapter 3
But honestly? I killed it.
Rotated through departments, learned the whole business, got my bosses obsessed with me, scored two promotions.
Ethan was actually sweet back then. Even thinking I was some nobody, he was all in. I fell for it.
After a year, he proposed. I said yes.
Today was supposed to be my big reveal. The end of Dad’s test.
Time to drop the bomb that I’m Sterling Corp royalty.
I was gonna tell Ethan I’m the heiress to the company he’s been desperately trying to partner with.
Plot twist-he already had the hookup.
Thank god I kept my mouth shut.
This trash?
Sterling Corp wouldn’t touch him with a ten-foot pole.
Biking in a wedding dress is giving everyone whiplash.
This car speeds up behind me and deliberately hits a huge puddle, soaking me head to toe. I wipe out completely.
I’m getting up when I hear this obnoxious cackling.
Look up and it’s Ethan’s whole wedding convoy. The last car’s got one of Aria’s minions driving-they totally did that on purpose.
When I roll up to the hotel looking absolutely wrecked, Ethan’s Range Rover is just pulling up with his whole crew.
I lock my bike and this loud robot voice goes:
“BIKE SUCCESSFULLY LOCKED.”
Everyone whips around and loses it: “Oh my god, she actually biked here! Hahahahaha!”
